tasty new school american pale, thanks to my buddy for bringing it back from jazz fest for me. not too often i get to drink beer from mississippi, so thats awesome too. its a nice pale, bright yellow in color with some soft frosted haze to it and a nice tall white head. looks great in the glass. it smells nice too, balanced, definitely short of ipa in the hop intensity, although hops absolutely lead the way here. the grain bill is super light in flavor, fresh gentle cereals, maybe a nip of wheat, but its simple and allows the hops to stand out without being brutally dosed. some tropical grassy notes in there, vegetal and brand new, this is definitely fresh beer. decent oil content too, sort of west coast, but without all the bitterness. great carbonation, fluffy in the mouth, and i like the way the most pleasant aspects of the hops linger, again without the bitterness. i only had a single can, but a six pack would have been an easy proposition.

Piney, citrusy, and soapy hops. Light pale malt. Slightly on the bitter side with some oiliness. A sipper that is an above average wet hopped pale. Not one I would rush for, but a good beer.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Thank you to shan8454 for this one in trade.

Appearance: Cloudy orange amber color, with a lot of carbonation. Over 5 fingers of thick, foamy off white head.

Smell: Citrus, hops and pine notes.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of bitter hops/pine with some mild sweet citrus.

Overall: Decent brew. I would have this again.

Gold in color with a hazy complexion. There's a half inch of creamy and tightly knit off white foam on top. Aroma is citrus hops and light malt, but it seems a tad subdued. I taste plenty of bitter citrus hops, but there's plenty of light biscuit malt to balance things out. The mouth is a bit sticky and resinous.

This one, my first from Southern Prohibition and second from the entire state (I think), is a golden-amber color and quite bright despite a slight haze to the body. It grows a creamy pillow of head about half a finger tall, maybe slightly more, that retains itself well and leaves some patching after it falls to foam.
This one's definitely hop-forward on the nose but well balanced by malts, floral in the bitterness and sort of grainy-sweet with a little bit of dusty dryness underneath the sweeter overtones. Citrus comes through, while it goes a little soapy underneath but brings out some nice, almost tropical fruit notes.
Hops are a little grassier and not quite as expressive as on the nose but with the same citrus and sweeter undertones with a piney bitterness as well. Malts are sweet as they smell and balance as the expected floral notes come through. Cereal grains round out the flavor underneath into a malty/leafy bitter finish.
This one's crisp after starting fluffy, easing off in the middle, with a medium body and enough dryness coming through to cut it. It ends up pretty smooth by the end.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, a bit of hops. Taste is well balanced. Malts up front, some hops kicking in at the finish, very easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.
