Our India Pale Ale is a true classic for Hop heads using only the finest hops from the northwest. We use centennial, citra, simcoe and falconers flight hops to balance out the smooth malty finish.

procured a slew of CANs for The CANQuest (tm) during a BCCA CANvention & I am slowly getting them out of the backlog and into the roto.

From the CAN: "Brewmaster Scott Freitas put his version of a true IPA classic into this [CAN]. The result is a crisp hop taste from the finest hops from the Northwest to balance the smooth malt finish. Kick Back and Enjoy, [undersigned]Scott Frietas (sp?), Brewmaster"; "Brewed in Portage, MI"; "Change your attitude[,] drink some Latitude"; "[Recycle] cause we do".

I have to say, as a seasoned CANQuester (tm), it does not bode well when you misspell the brewer's name. The devil is in the details & while I am not as sharp as I used to be, I am not as smooth as a bowling ball, either.

The Crack! unleashed some foaming through the vent, so I gave it some calming time to reflect on how it wanted to act around me. It settled down shortly after that. AcCANdingly, I was gentle with it on the Glug in the undying spirit of quid pro quo here at Chez Woody. Color was a faintly hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) & The Gelt Gang of Croesus, Mammon & Midas called to say that they may stop by later if it clarifies. I have been having chill haze issues lately, due to the temperature of my reefer, but I also keep food in there, so it is a necessary trade-off. Nose was very piney, almost resinous, with some underlying grapefruit citrusiness. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was a CANplete 180 from the nose, since now it was the grapefruit citrusiness that led the way, underlain by the mintiness of the pine. Wow! I am not a huge fan of surprises, but when they are pleasant, like this, I CAN make allowances. The finish was dry and bitter, like I had just finished another glass of my daily morning grapefruit juice. I CANnot tell you precisely when I developed the taste, but I CAN assure you that it was during one of my underway jaunts in the Navy. I also developed an affinity for grits around the same time & they go together well. This would pair nicely with some lightly salty fish or better yet, fish tacos in corn wraps. I am making myself hungry, so I shall wrap up this review. TTFN.

Nose of malt, citrus, light grass, earthy, grapefruit, faint spice. Taste sweet malt, toffee, caramel, tropical fruit, medium body, slight spicy bitter finish.

This brew, poured from a twelve ounce can, is a golden-amber colored liquid with a mid-sized white head. The aroma has musty, earthy, spicy hops, along with a background of pale malt. The taste is hoppy, bitter, resiny, and enjoyable. Balanced, with some malt sweetness for balance. The finish is lingering and bitter.
