Inspired by the founder’s daughter, and just like her, truly a one of a kind. A uniquely dryhopped Belgian Golden Ale with a subtle sweetness and a lot of mischievous tones. Don't be disarmed by her easy going nature, she packs quite a punch.

Carried this can from the curb at Beermiscuous Chicago. My 8th unique from Une Annee'. They are innovators who I want to visit in a post-Covid world; but for now, what is in their cans is good enough.
Apparently a re-release since the last review was 3 years ago, Maya Looks like the classic West Coast IPA, minus the lace: basically, it has a nice color from the darker, sweeter malts. Smells also are classic West Coast, mostly piney. Tastes are well-balanced (often not West Coast) without the hops stealing the show. They behave all the way through the dry finish. By using the yeast to finish this ale and give it character, Une Annee' sets it apart from from half the American wannabes in this style.
Leave it to Une Annee' (the Chicagoland's crafty Belgian innovators, IMHO) to figure out how this style should be brewed. Made for exporting to the American market, Belgian consumers wince at the hops. On the other hand, American crafters who lean on hops for flavor really do not spend enough time figuring out the yeast and keeping it right. So, the result is that an very interesting hybrid style (to people like me, American malt-heads) becomes neglected. Whatever you like, try Une Annee's offerings. You will find a brewer who thoughtfully knows what they are doing.

Bottled in March, split with a buddy. Curious to see how the hops have held up over the past few months. I’m expecting more Belgian than IPA.
Amber pour with a thin soapy head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is bready malt, toasted grains, apple, pear. Interesting mix.
Taste is muddled citrus, pear, red apple skins, doughy malt. Slight oxidation going on. Light phenolic and estery character but mostly citrus and malt.
Hefty feel but easy drinking. Slight fruit-tartness in the back end. Nice beer overall.

On tap at ParkSide 23 in Brookfield, WI. Never heard of this brewery until tonight.
Pours to a golden amber appearance with a two finger head. Smells of Belgian yeast, herbal funk, citrus and bready malt. Quite complex on the palate with sweet malt, spruce-like citrus tinged pine, mixed savory herbs and Belgian yeast. Hops are present on the finish but there's almost no bitterness from them. Creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation. I must admit this beer is very unique tasting - I can not think of another beer that tastes like it which is a good thing. Worth seeking out.

Pours on tap a golden orange yellow with a 2 inch thick white head. Smell of caramel, citrus, bit of grapefruit, and some light sweet malt. Taste of citrus, sweet caramel malt, grapefruit, and slight strawberry. It has a semi dry moderate mouth feel and a light to moderate smooth body. Little bit to much like club soda flavor.
