The richest of all Belgian ales, the Quadrupel is not for the faint of heart. Pouring deep amber, ours is mellow in color but rich with flavor. Look for plum, dried cherry and fig esters with mild phenolic spice notes and a dry finish.

Pours a dark purplish amber with a soft short cap of foam that fades pretty quickly. The aroma is dominated by dark fruit - figs, plums, raisins - followed by a hint of spice and caramel. The flavor is similar. Caramel, candy sugar, figs, dates, raisins, just a hint of spice, an earthy, herbal bitterness lingers in the aftertaste. The alcohol is almost non existent.
This is a really enjoyable example of the style. I was impressed and glad to have tried it.

Excellent quad ale. Poured from a 16oz can. Very similar to the ones produced in Belgium. Best American quad I have sampled. Highly recommend. Best to drink at 55F-65F in a tulip glass.

Dark cloudy coppery pour, small head with some reddish highlights, no lacing.
Fruity aroma, figs, raisin maybe a date. A bit thin, could use some more carbonation. Excellent!

Appearance: Pours a deep and dark ruby hue balanced by dark brown hues. A mild tan head. SRM of 19. (3.50)
Aroma: Moderate aromas of dark fruit and chocolate emerge upfront. Some dark cherry, dark chocolate, figs. (4.00)
Flavor: Strong flavors of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel upfront that evolves into a sweet bread malt. Syrup, caramel, and sweetness linger. (3.75)
Feel: Heavier-bodied, low carbonation, shows the booze a bit and flat off the end. (3.00)
Overall: A great and smaller brewery out of Chicago. Sometimes hit or miss with their beers, but usually pretty darn good if you've ever had Hubbard's Cave. This is a big Belgian Quad. Authentic aromas and flavors. Shows a booze and sweetness a bit. Undercarbonated is the biggest issue. Nice flavors, but could use some work on the mouthfeel. (Rating: 3.67)

I had tried an Une Annee once before and it was a winner. That totally goes for this one too. A winner - I will try to buy more.
This pours a nice dark brown with a nice head that dissipates and does not return. The aroma is that fruity yeasty smell I expect from the style. Well done. The taste is instantly a mouthful, but it never offends. They must have done some nice aging to get everything settled down so well. I really haven't aged cans, but if I find some of these I will buy them and drink them slowly!
Highly recommended. Besides being a good all around Belgian this is a good value. Finding more isn't likely, but I will look real soon.

Tasted from a 16 oz can bought in Virginia; poured into a Saint Arnold Icon globe glass.
L - Mahogany brown beer that is clear when held up to the glass. Tan head is thick and fluffy initially, then retracts to a ring around the glass and a few wisps in the center. When the glass is swirled it shows "legs" on the glass like a rich red wine.
S - Aromas are primarily malt-based, with chocolate, prunes, figs, raisins and (much fainter) burnt grains. There is also a whiff of sharp alcohol. No yeast character in the nose that I can sense.
T - The flavors have the same elements as the aromas, but with different levels. Here the raisins and figs are in the forefront, with chocolate and roasted grains taking a step back. Again, I can't identify any yeast character.
F - Medium to thick body with sticky sweetness that coats the mouth. Low to moderate carbonation. Medium hops bitterness is barely enough to hold the sweetness in check. The alcohol is evident, but is surprisingly low for the ABV.
O - This is a good quad, but I feel the sweetness and dried fruits are too over the top, even for this style. I would rate it higher if it was drier and if it had more Belgian yeast character.

Tap hit at Stillwater Grill in Fort Myers, FL. Arrives dull and flat. No distinguishing or familiar smell. It’s totally bland, carries none of the hallmarks of a ‘real’ Belgian Quad. Even the ABV is almost offensive to a beer guy. Maybe it’s old, maybe it didn’t travel well. It’s certainly not good.

Can into clear plastic cup (hey, I'm on vacation - give me a break). Pours a mahogany brown with essentially no head. Initial impression is caramel, dark fruits, and maybe a touch of vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium and surprisingly clean. Finish fades to a lingering assortment of dark fruits. Belgians aren't my thing, but this one is certainly enjoyable.

Unremarkable.
Pour left very little/no head.
No noticeable smell.
Smooth, easy to drink.
ABV well hidden.
Worth having, okay for the style, but nothing special.
