A - Pours dark brown with a thin fizzy tan head. Good amount of sticky lacing.

S - Aroma is milk chocolate and plums.

T - The taste is milk chocolate, candied sugar, plums, vanilla, roasted malts and charred oak.

M - Medium/full body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a crisp dry finish.

O - Decent RIS. The flavors are on the sweet side and the 13.5% is noticeable. Definetly a slow sipper.

I'll start with the conversation I had in my head when purchasing... "Oh look a big chocolate Stout from Hubbard's Cave. I sneaky love their stouts! Oh wait it is their sister brewery Une Annee whose specializes in sour beers. Hmmmm, maybe this one should wait to be purchased... Well they would work closely with Hubbard's so why not get it?"
So I should have listened to my gut instinct. This beer has a repugnant acidic booziness to it that it ruins the whole beer. Which is too bad, because it looks beautiful, and before that awful palate crushing taste hits, there are some dark chocolate cake and vanilla flavors happening. But that aftertaste and smell is just too much to handle!

750ml bottle into a snifter appears dark brown to black in color witha thin khaki head.

It smells green and peppery with a sweet essence to the background.

It also tastes sweet but with black licorice and a bit of boozy quality.

This is medium in body with light carbonation. It is strange and green but not that bad.

750 mL bottle. Almost black body. Medium khaki head. Smells of lots of chocolate, heavy roasted malt, and a ton of alcohol. Tastes much the same. Nutty malts turn chocolatey and sweet. Bitter roast. And an alcohol burn like you wouldn't believe. Yikes. Not that heavy, but it burns. Very difficult to drink.

Pours pretty much pitch black, does form a bit of a tan head that soon dissipates into some lacing across the top and the sides of the glass.

Smell is mainly chocolate, also a bit of fruit, like plum or prune, and some booze.

Like the smell, strong notes of chocolate at first. There is a strong sweetness in there, to me the effect is a bit like chocolate cake with a sweet frosting. I can also detect a little dried fruit, and a pronounced alcohol warming at the finish.

Feel is a bit thin for the style, not as thick as I expected.

Not a bad beer, especially if you like chocolate. The thing that keeps this from the best of this style is a lack of complexity. It's not bad, but a bit on the plain side for this style. Still, if you like a chocolate stout, worth checking out, as I feel it delivers on the chocolate.

750 ml bottle poured into snifter.

Appearance: Dark, brooding, viscous liquid with no visible bubbles within and a mocha colored head which dissipates quickly, leaving some lacing on the glass.

Smell: faint chocolate. Some booze.

Taste: Ok, there definitely seems to be an almost weird milk element to this that the other reviewer described. On the plus side, this really isn't boozy at all. Some chocolate notes are there as well.

Mouthfeel: well, that's an interesting aftertaste. That aforementioned weird milk taste sticks around. The only solution seems to be to drink more of this.

Overall: this could be worse, but after being spoiled the other night with the barrel aged Old Rasputin... this could have been better.

I want to like this but there is something strange that I can't put my finger on. The finish is all chocolate, which is great. But before that there is a strange kind of sour-milky flavor that I can't put my finger on. Not fully warmed so may edit this later.
