after hearing about these beers for awhile now, i finally found one, and honestly, i had much higher hopes for this. its a wild ale, pretty nondescript beyond that, tastes like a lot of others out there in the world, and for the price, i just didnt find it worth it, it seems to be lacking the refinement the very best in the style have, not sloppy, but not quite dialed in either. obviously bretty in the nose, with some real acidity too, perhaps a mixed fermentation of sorts here, lots of lemon in the nose, other generic citrus, a cerealy base that must contain some wheat, and this strange musty funk that isnt as dry and complex as i like it to be, but is the only real interested element in this beer. some peach or apricot maybe, white grape, and lemon in the flavor, herbaceous and springy, but a little mucky on the yeast, with the sourness escalating towards the finish. there is a fine complexity to this, but it tastes young and overly yeasty to me, not as developed as it could be, maybe with some time in the cellar it would evolve into a cleaner experience, but at this price point, i wanted it to be great already, and its a little shy of that mark.

First AWA from UA? I like their saisons so hopefully this goes well.

A: Bronze-tinged gold, mild white head.

S: Funky strawberries in the nose, cobweb, bright lemon.

T: Super lemony, moderate lacto, brackish mineral, vanilla, cloves.

M: Light bodied, crisp carb.

O: I like this a lot. Plenty of funk, complex, sorta lambic-like.

Esquisse.

Saw this one at my local craft shop and could never justify $15 for the bottle until I simply said fukkit and decided to take the plunge last night. First Wild Ale, and the only one I have managed to find so let's hope it'd good.

Look - Pours a sunset thought smogged orangish goldeb color with a finger of bubbly head that sticks around and leaves a film atop the drink. Carbonation appears to be non-existant. Head retains all thr way through the drink and leaves patchy though sticky lacing.

Smell - This is a very musky, funky smelling brew. Almost smells like walking into a covered back room in somebodies basement. The fruity notes are noticable but overall the must is dominant.

Taste - I see this style is highly acidic and very fruit forward. Mangos and a touch of grapes followed by that oh so familiar basement must straight into the finish and upon the swallow. It really isn't as bad as I am making it sound, though it isn't particularly fantastic.

Feel - The body is somewhat thin though highly creamy and swallows easily leading to a greetinf by just a touch of alcoholic warmth.

Overall - I'm not very impressed with this one, especially at the price poiht. I will certainly try more in the style if I can find them, but hopefully they don't cost as much ;).

There is definitely an infection brewing in this bottle. It's in the background but the telltale signs are there.

Hazy burnt orange with fizzy white head. Slightly fruity Belgian yeast, slightly tart and mildly dry in the finish
