Infected... Esquisse me?
As a wild ale that's pretty much a given, but this beer isn't exactly "clean", as there's an off note in the background.

Pours a murky golden orange, soft wispy foam has a creamy surface texture to it. Doesn't exhibit much lasting lace. Surface skim tends to break up after the first few sips.

Smells largely of Belgian yeast, fruity esters and a little bit of creamy wheat underneath. Wet stone minerality as well, and an off medicinal note in the background.

Tart and lactic, dried apricot, yeast esters. Full bodied, maybe too much so, fairly malty. It comes off as a soured Belgian strong pale. Moderate carbonation, some residual malt sweetness kicking around once the flash of tartness fades.

Overall it's ok, needs some tweaking, but it's not bad. For $13 i'm not sure i'd buy it again.

First AWA from UA? I like their saisons so hopefully this goes well.

A: Bronze-tinged gold, mild white head.

S: Funky strawberries in the nose, cobweb, bright lemon.

T: Super lemony, moderate lacto, brackish mineral, vanilla, cloves.

M: Light bodied, crisp carb.

O: I like this a lot. Plenty of funk, complex, sorta lambic-like.

Esquisse.

Saw this one at my local craft shop and could never justify $15 for the bottle until I simply said fukkit and decided to take the plunge last night. First Wild Ale, and the only one I have managed to find so let's hope it'd good.

Look - Pours a sunset thought smogged orangish goldeb color with a finger of bubbly head that sticks around and leaves a film atop the drink. Carbonation appears to be non-existant. Head retains all thr way through the drink and leaves patchy though sticky lacing.

Smell - This is a very musky, funky smelling brew. Almost smells like walking into a covered back room in somebodies basement. The fruity notes are noticable but overall the must is dominant.

Taste - I see this style is highly acidic and very fruit forward. Mangos and a touch of grapes followed by that oh so familiar basement must straight into the finish and upon the swallow. It really isn't as bad as I am making it sound, though it isn't particularly fantastic.

Feel - The body is somewhat thin though highly creamy and swallows easily leading to a greetinf by just a touch of alcoholic warmth.

Overall - I'm not very impressed with this one, especially at the price poiht. I will certainly try more in the style if I can find them, but hopefully they don't cost as much ;).

Growler pour, filled yesterday at local growler shop.Pours a hazy yellow, light gold. Smells of lemon peel, lemongrass, and anything else lemon. Thankfully, I like lemons!!! Taste is nicely sour, although I'm wondering if this is kettle soured? It has a slight taste of that "fake" sour to it. Not necessarily bad, but a little unappealing. Mouthfeel is average, acidity is good...aftertaste is grapefruit and lingers forever. Overall, a decent beer. Not sure I will be running back to it, but I am sure I will be buying it again as my wife loves it!!!

A: Pours a cloudy/hazed almost murky golden/orange color. At first a two finger white head forms. and recedes after a minute. Not much lace, but a few patchy spots of film are left behind.
S: A musty, earthy basement like yeast up front that I really enjoy. Acidic fruits like peaches, citrus, mango. Really pleasing.
T: Earthy yeast, musty and basement like. Lightly acidic, but certainly not a sour bomb. More like lightly acidic citrus, peaches and mango fruits.
M/O: A light body that is effervescent and crisp. Smooth and dry, if a bit chalky. Enjoyable to drink, this is very nice. The 750ml bottle is gone in no time, and I will be enjoying more.

Certainly not an intense wild, but the yeast and lightly acidic fruits make for a simple and pleasing offering. Something I am enjoying.
