It's good but it seems more like a BA Barleywine. 2016.

650ml bottle, 2016 vintage, poured into a 14oz snifter glass. Enjoyed on 4.19.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a deep black color, very opaque with cola brown hues and a fizzy bone colored head, little retention and spots of lace. The aroma is very nice, lots of dark chocolate, light roast with lots of rye whiskey, charred oak, nice spice character with vanilla, caramel and stone fruits. The flavors are great, tons of dark chocolate, lots of stone fruits, light vanilla bean with tons of rye whiskey barrel, charred oak, smooth rye whiskey, nice spice character grows as the beer warms, caramel and brown sugar linger well with a bit of alcohol heat. The mouthfeel is okay, medium body, very active carbonation that coats well with a soft finish that is a touch warm and a touch prickly.

Verdict: A very good barrel aged stout from Temperance. Nice balance of flavors, great rye whiskey expression that is smooth and very drinkable. It needs to be given more oomph bodywise, but it's still a very good beer.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Believe this was the 2016 edition. Had 1/27/17.

Pours a dark cola color, mostly opaque, with a short head and some spotty lacing. Smells really good- rye, rye whiskey, caramel, malt, vanilla, light molasses. The taste is more malt forward, followed by vanilla, rye whiskey, rye, caramel, hazelnuts, some oak, toffee. This is quite sweet. Smooth, a decent body but maybe a touch thin, an appropriate amount of carbonation.

I have mixed feelings on this one. Smells awesome, very good flavor, but the high level of sweetness- and I like sweet, is a distraction. Wish I had a second bottle to age and compare. Still definitely worth a purchase, these guys do a pretty good job of barrel aging.

This is a knockout of a BA stout - somehow stays the right side of too heavy/boozy whilst laying out plenty of complexity and barrel. Chocolate covered cherry candies, hint of smoke and spice and all things nice. Generous in mouthfeel but not sickly or too slick.

Pours dark black. Not much of a head, minimal viscosity. Unremarkable looking stout even for a BA beer.

Smell is rather subdued with some notes of barrel aging and roasted malts.

Taste is quite sweet, almost cola like. Nice barrel character present. Some chocolate and malt notes come through.

Feel is decent for a BA beer. A bit on the thin side, but not awful. Mild carbonation.

Overall a perfectly fine BA beer, but nothing special. At the price point, it just isn't worth it.

Vanilla, caramel, oak, maple syrup, dark cherries, figs, chocolate and cola. Some Dr. Pepper flavors on the back end. On the sweet side. Fairly dry finish. Medium thin mouthfeel. If the sweetness was dialed back a bit, this would be amazing.
