Very strong burbon note and alcohol flavor. Smooth and silky feel. A good burbon barrel beer.

Got this one from vanlingleipa a while back. Cheers!

From a bomber into a snifter
Barrel aged imperial stout

APPEARANCE: Pours out clear black and yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, fizzy, noisy tan head with okay retention. Black body with no real carbonation evident. Head recedes to a full, creamy cap. Touches of wisp and a ring remain leaving bits of lacing on the glass as it empties. Kind of a lack luster head yet the color is alright.

SMELL: Oak, with bourbon as well as some definite spices on the nose. Cinnamon, milk chocolate, sweet cream and lighter notes of coffee as well. Pretty nice and bold enough.

TASTE: Cinnamon, bourbon, oak and milk chocolate up front, with some more barrel, alcohol and cinnamon spice at the swallow. A bold and lingering finish of cinnamon, vanilla cream, milk chocolate, oak, definite bourbon and some spicy alcohol as well. Pretty full flavored and the cinnamon is done nicely.

PALATE: Medium body with slightly higher levels of carbonation. Creamy on the palate, a touch foamy perhaps, goes down fine with a bit of a burn and finishes a touch mouth-coating. Some spicy cinnamon lingers.

OVERALL: This is really tasty. The cinnamon is a pleasant surprise and it works well with the bourbon barrel. Lots of good stuff going on here and is definitely something worth checking out if you’re a fan of the style. Thanks again, vanlingleipa!

This one got lost in the cellar for a couple years, so I'm excited to finally see what it's all about. 22 oz. bottle into a snifter. Pours jet black with one finger of dense, medium brown head that maintains a solid collar. The appearance and aroma make it clear that this is an intense beer. It looks heavy and viscous. It smells like fresh dark chocolate brownies with vanilla icing and a neat bourbon on the side.

The taste, while certainly bold, has enough nuance to keep it interesting. Dark fudgy bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, caramel, espresso, oak, and bourbon converge in delicious harmony. Not too sweet, well balanced, just the right amount of bourbon. Excellent. The mouthfeel is big and creamy. Heavy and full and coats the palate well.

Superb. Never had it fresh, but I can safely say that 2+ years of rest didn't hurt a bit. Would love to get my hands on another.

Incredibly dark. Viscous and silky. Mocha head that bursts with chocolate, espresso, fudge, figs, dark jam, carmelized oak, and dank earth. Dark chocolate-dipped cherry on the tongue. Little hop sting on the back end, but otherwise semi-sweet chocolate cake, dark roasted coffee, molasses, dried fruits, and rye bread all over the pallete. Really, really unique flavor profile. Picking up different dominants on each sip, though the sweetness becomes increasingly pronounced as the beer warms. I was a little skeptical of the highest rated beer in TN, but it is absolutely the best stout I’ve had in the state.

Holy shit is this an incredible beer. The aroma is bourbon chocolate cinnamon and coconut. There is a strong coconut, and I don't know why I'm getting it along with the cinnamon. Get this beer, it's not super limited and should be easy to get.
