Appearance - red, orange, caramel color with a inch tall head

Smell - I get a bunch ginger bread and nutmeg

Taste - not as spicy as I thought it would be.

Mouthfeel - nice and smooth and a bunch of carbonation

Overall - nice fun beer. Hopefully it opens up a bunch when it warms up

This pours a hazy orange with a one finger white head that disappears rather quick leaving little lacing on the glass.

Smells just like pumpkin pie spices... cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves... I also detect a brown sugar sweetness and a bit of toasted crust. Smells good!

The taste is pure buttery pumpkin and spices... I get a little hint of vanilla that makes me think of when i put cool whip on my pumpkin pie... delicious!

I love this Pumpkin beer.. I always have this and Schlafly's Pumpkin in my fridge for fall... this is a more easy drinking lighter beer, while Schlafly is more of a beast in comparison. I actually drank my first one of these while raking leaves outside and i love the aroma and taste mixed with the smell of the leaves... ahhh, gotta love fall!

Pours a hazy dark orange...dare I say pumpkin color, with a small off white head on top. A very nice nose with raw mashed pumpkin along with cinammon sweetness and hints of cloves. Quite a nice nose on this one...takes me back to Thanksgiving.

A nice pumpkin flavor comes first mixed with equal doses of cloves and cinammon. A nice malty sweetness comes through as well. Quite a tasty pumpkin ale..nicely balanced between pumpkin and spice.

Medium bodied with a healthy dose of bubbly as well. I would like to see this be just a tad fuller in the mouthfeel. Both drinkable and enjoyable...I'll be looking for this one again during the fall next year.

This one reminded me a lot of Shipyard's pumpkin ale. Very similar color, with a lot of the same quantities of spices.

There is a lot of cinnamon in this beer. Not as much as Shipyard's (but then, no one uses as much cinnamon as them), but it is still very present, along with the other customary pumpkin ale spices, like nutmeg and allspice. The said spices are all very present in the nose.

There really isn't a whole lot of substance to this beer. It noticeably lacks a richness & depth that the best pumpkin ales have - which seems to be a common problem among pumpkin beers. It just comes across like a normal nondescript golden ale with heavy spices.

Notes from fall 2010

Pours a clean orangish-brown liquid with 2 fingers of head. Not much lacing.

Smell is one of the better I've smelled for a pumpkin beer. Nice aroma of pumpkin, nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon.

Taste is similar to the smell and dominated by pumpkin and spices.

Mouthfeel is somewhat creamy though light, with a nice carbonation level.

This is an easy drinking pumkin beer, with flavors that blend pretty well.

Pours a cloudy, peach colored body with a small, offwhite head that quickly drops to a collar. No lacing.
Substantial aroma of fresh pumpkin, and plenty of pie spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and allspice run amok.
Mouthfeel is creamy and ample, with good carbonation and a medium body.
Taste is ideal for style, and largely echoes the aroma. Fresh pumpkin is present, but gets overwhelmed by the pie spices. A caramel malt backbone is noticed underneath.
This is one of the better pumpkin ales I've tried. Quite tasty! Thanks to clvand0, for the bottle.

Appearance - Cloudy light brown with orange hues. This years version states that it is brewed with pumpkin. In the past the've used a pumpkin spice "tea" to get the desired flavor. This may account for the relative cloudiness in the current beer. 1" thick light tan head reduced to a thin film in a few minutes.

Smell - Nose full of cinnamon and nutmeg. Pumpkin background. Malt and hops are there but so overpowered by the cinnamon that they are difficult to detect.

Taste - Much like the aroma, the pumpkin and spices are major players in the flavor. It's like having a mouth full of pumpkin meat or squash seasoned with cinnamon. Toasty, nutty malt sweetness as it warms. Just enough hop presence to tone down the sweetness to a drinkable level.

Mouthfeel - Creamy almost buttery. Medium to full bodied.

Drinkability - Very drinkable. Doesn't fatigue the taste buds as quickly as most pumpkin beers. And at 5.5% ABV you can enjoy several at a sitting.

Brown in color with good clarity. There is good carbonation but the head quickly dissipates. Aroma is heavily pumpkin pie spices. I also get a bit of cinnamon and faint nutmeg. Mouthfeel is smooth, but fairly carbonated. The taste is very much pumpkin pie spice with a bit of cinnamon. It's a bit fleeting and then gone. I appreciate the lack of coriander, but this isn't as good as I had remembered.

As for pumpkin beers . . . I did not enjoy this one. Just had a very watered down pumpkin flavor with no other spices or flavors to complement or support.

Pours a slightly hazy apricot color, with a bubbly head rising up a full inch to the rim of the glass. The bubbles pop noisily to realease gas quickly and the head disappears right away. Aroma is sweet and spicy, a bit more nutmeg than pumpkin, definite bit of hops, and sweet malt. Flavor is rich, just shy of cloying, full of pumpkin and spice, with a dry, clean finish, almost a bit tannic. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but bubbles tingle in the finish. Thanks to Brent for passing this one on.

Poured from a bottle into a tasting glass.

Light straw color. Slight cloudiness. Not overly impressive nose, but does the job of communicating the pumpkin season.

Mouthfeel is a little clingy with a slight pumpkin pie flavor and an off dry finish. Not bad, not complex, perfect drinking beer for the season. Nice balance and pleasant.

Appears copper orange in the body with a cream khaki head flowing thick, unexpected spice comes up and hits me in the face. Pumpkin spice including the clove, vanilla, and nutmeg notes usually only found in a pumpkin pie. Flavor is straight spice minimal malts from the base beer this relies heavily on the spice additions minimal hints of gourd that may or may not have been there for the brewing process. Body is medium the carbonation is flowing thick in this beer, I'm actually amazed by the pumpkin and spice combo compared to other standard abv versions I'm getting a fuller bodied creamy carbonation pretty solid but still not something I would seek out.

2011 edition, poured into nonic pint.

A: light, opaque brown color, similar to cream soda. Head is thin and doesn't last long. It'a fairly attractive beer.

S: cinammon, nutmeg, brown sugar, more or less what you'd expect. Smells sweet but not cloying. I let it sit for a few minutes and the aroma came out more after a while. Promising.

T: from the above aroma notes, the nutmeg comes out most, but there's also a little caramel flavor in there. The carbonation delivers a little bit of hop bite in there, just enough to balance out the sweeter flavors in here.

M: this might run a little counter to a compliment above, but the conditioning is a little too intense. As I keep drinking, the bubbles mute the flavors a bit too much. I do like the way flavors stick around on the palate.

O: Dogfish's Pun'kin Ale is my standard for this style, and this is not that. That said, it's solid, and decently drinkable for the style. If someone handed me a slice of pumpkin pie to go along with one of these, I'd be content.
