Barley's Taproom & Pizzeria

Went in for dinner on a Wednesday since we were staying right across the street. Split a white pizza with the wife. Really good. Quality beers and about 20 on tap. The place was pretty laid back with an old school, wood paneled dive bar vibe. Service was very good. More laid back and affordable that most restaurants in south slope.

The selection of beers was disappointing, which in and of itself is extremely disappointing considering everything you could do with a beer selection located where you are in Asheville. Food is quite good for being standard pizza fare. Atmosphere is lots of wood and huge rooms with high ceilings. Really surprised at how few different beers and different styles there were, really very perplexing

This is a wonderful place with great atmosphere to quickly taste a lot of the Asheville beers, so you can get an idea of which breweries to hit. Wait staff is extremely helpful, and pints are reasonably priced at $4 (spring 2015). Highly recommended! (Did not taste the food, which is why it's not rated).

 

A good place to visit when in Asheville. Several floors to choose from. Food was good, not Sure if they source local or anything , but seemed to be made from scratch. Beer selection was good. Had several locals to choose from. Prices were fair and good. I'd definitely check it out.

 

 

Was not aware this was a chain, it does not change my rating though. This place did not feel like a chain and felt right at home in downtown Asheville. I watched a football game here and was there for the better part of 4-5 hours. Pizza was good as was the beer selection. Lots of local and other NC brews available to try. We visited the pool room/bar upstairs as well as the downstairs dining room. Great service that was friendly and attentive.

 

 

 

 

Rustic bar up a nice set of creaky wood stairs... lots of wood. Long bar seats 15 to 20 with plenty of tables about. About 20 beers on tap, nice mostly local selection. Friendly bartender, good pizza.
