Coconut extract gives off notes and aromas of sun tan lotion, which can be subdued if used properly. The rum barrel aging seems to enhance those flavors in this beer. Big fan of Coconut Delight, not a fan at all of this one

Shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark oily black hue with an excellent two finger mocha head that leaves awesome sticky lacing and a dense creamy blanket.

S - Aromas of enormous coconut, toasted, creamy coconut flesh, coconut creme, excellent Caribbean rum, lightly spicy, wonderful barrel notes, nice oak, really smooth.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, excellent coconut qualities with loads of spicy lightly sweet rum. Incredibly delicious, however, the way overly aggressively hopped base beer clashes with every other aspect. It ruins the barrel, the coconut, and a good RIS.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, creamy, alcohol hidden very well. That astringent bitterness though detracts immensely.

O - Overall this is a very, very good beer. If not for this astringent hop bitterness the beer would be nearly perfect.

Pours a large fluffy creamy think 2 finger mocha head that fades slowly, rich lacing, pitch black long thick legs.

Nose loads and loads of coconut, plenty of rum barrel almost bourbon like, tons of vanilla, a sweet molasses rum, Caribbean expensive rum, into fudgey cocoa, marshmallow nougat, caramel creams, great candy caramel and coconut candy, so much great rum.

Taste explodes again with coconut, fresh shredded coconut, toasted, with some nice rum again, fresh expensive molasses rum, toasted vanilla oak, little fudgey cocoa fluffy nougat again, hint of booze. Then huge hops, super spicy earthy hops, big bitterness trouncing everything, pissing all over that awesome coconut and chocolate and rum barrel. Finish is a touch sticky mostly dry, a little coconut and fudge and rum, but mostly earthy spicy hops, crazy astringent bitterness.

Mouth is rich creamy chewy fudgey, very little booze, nice fluffy carb.

Overall the coconut and rum is incredible malts are great, but hops just destroy everything.

750ml bottle. Served in a snifter glass.

Pours a dark brown body, nearly black, opaque with a one finger white head, fair retention, no lacing, as expected for the style. Smells of sweet rum, espresso, chocolate, only a hint of coconut, but the coconut comes out more as it warms up. It's a balanced coconut here. Flavour is rum, chocolate, bit of dark fruit, charred malt, and lots of coconut intermingling within these big flavours. It's not Proprietor's 2013 coconut bomb where it was dominant, but it is more of a persistent presence that weaves its tendrils around all aspects of the base beer. The rum isn't too strong, but rather contributes additional complexity without being overpowering, which can be an issue for me with rum barrel-aged beers. No artificiality here either. Body is medium-fuller bodied, good carbonation, coconut and a bit of vanilla mixes in with cocoa on the finish. A nicely done, mildly decadent brew with a good coconut flavour.

Really enjoyed this one. Agree that it's the best variant they've done to date (and I've really enjoyed some of the LCCB variants). Coconut mixes very well with the rum and vanilla flavors without tasting fake or overly sweet.

Agree with the other reviewers, this is by far the best adjunct beer these guys have done. Coconut is present with abundance without being artificial or overpowering. As with all of their stouts, it is hoppy, but the coconut rises to the top and makes this a true gem. Definitely blown away by the balance between the stout and coconut flavors. Definitely seek this one out

Probably the best variant that LCCB has released. Not as bitter as their other offerings and has a very balanced flavor. The coconut stands out but is not overpowering. Very very good.

Had on tap at Lickinghole Creek. Was wary about the style and this particular combination of flavors, but Lickinghole knocked this one out of the park. Pours a deep black with minimal head. Fans of coconut will love this one, as that flavor is the most forward. It's balanced nicely with the rum barrels, which add a little spiciness. As is always the case with Lickinghole, this stout is on the hoppier side; however, the coconut graceful smoothes over any rough edges on this beer. Definitely surprised as to how much I enjoyed this one, and glad I picked up a few.
