L: Poured from a bottle to a goblet. Had a dark orange color and a murky / cloudy consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Pretty good lacing.
S: A nice aroma of apples, tequila, yeast, spices, and light citrus fruit.
T: Tasted of a fair shot of Belgian-style yeast, a tinge of the advertised tequila (not as much as expected), citrus (lemon & lime), lots of apples, a hint of hops in the finish, and some spices. An interesting flavor that's subtly good. The tequila wasn't quite as prominent as you would think, but this isn't a problem.
F: A good amount of carbonation with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This is a thoroughly enjoyable American version of a tripel. Drinkable.

This one pours with a massive fluffy head, a slightly hazy orange body, and a lot of lacing.
This smells like slightly sour rotted fruit, bitter tequila, vanilla, oak, and apples and pears.
Everything just kind of clashes here in a bad way. The tequila is strong, bitter, boozy, and overpowering, with bitter honey and nearly rotting stone fruit and orange rind. This is slightly sour in a bad way. Nothing about this works for me.
This is kind of thick and syrupy, and not at all drinkable. There's a fairly high level of carbonation.
This just doesn't work in the most of the ways possible. I can't recommend this one.

Essentially just the base beer for calavera caterina, which I prefer due to the added complexity of the lime zest

The beer pours a nice white and creamy head that dissipates quickly but leaves a nice film over the surface of the beer. The beer itself has a decent look to it. It has a murky yellowish-brown amber color. It's certainly a lot darker than other tripels but it still looks good.
The smell and taste are fairly similar. The tequila note is pretty strong and dominates the other notes. The beer seems to have an overall lemon and lime note from the hops and tequila. The taste seems to have light Belgian yeast and spice notes but get lost in the hop and tequila notes.
The feel is good. It's a beer that is on the border between medium and heavy but has a thin feel because of the barrel aging.
Overall, do it. Just do it.
