Taster at Broad Brook. Dark brown, small head fades to flat. Roasty aroma with notes of chocolate. Taste is sweet, roast settling into the background, chocolate, silky feel. Mild bitterness lingers.

Draft pint at the Hartford Marriott L Bar. Darkest brown with minimal tan head that dissipated immediately. Not much aroma, mainly toasted barley. A bit watery in the mouth, flavors built up with each quaff revealing dark toasted barley, a bit of licorice, cocoa. A bit flat but character of the style. OK-plus.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. The appearance is a dark brown color with a very small off-white colored head. The aroma is all malt. The taste is sweet malt.

Poured into a 10 oz whiskey glass not sure when it was canned. Pours a very dark mahogany with a half inch light tan head, that a little lace.
Smell is cocoa, coffee grounds, toffee, and vanilla.
Taste follows dry coffee, cocoa bean, toffee, tobacco, and vanilla.
Mouthfeel is about medium, gentle carbonation, a tad dry, and for 5.3% ABV drinks much bigger, but silky smooth.
Overall a very nice Porter that I would definitely dance with again if it comes my way.

T: coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and roasted grain are well balanced from start to finish; mild bitterness at the end;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; lightly dry finish;

Nice foam at pour but fades to surface clinging head 1-bubble deep pretty quick. Mild cocoa aroma becomes prominent dark chocolate on the tongue. Kind of like eating one of those 70% cocoa bars. If it wasn't highly carbonated the bitterness might be too much and if it wasn't as bitter the carbonation would be too much. Mouth feel pretty much makes this a porter, not a stout (I know the line is blurry).
At 5.3% this is a good alternative when a high ABV, highly rated stout is not an option.
