Very Good
Notes: Aroma of cherries, plums and molasses with a rustic herbal hop character. A strong dark ale, this beer is brewed with an absurd amount of malt which gives it a toasty flavour and a pleasant alcohol warming.

Persephone Brewing 'Barley Wine' 2016 @ 10.6% , served from a waxed 650 ml bottle purchased for $12
A-pour is a murky dark brown from bottle to glass with a small tan head leaving a streaky lace ring along the snifter
S-I smell raisins & barley malt
T-big , not so smooth yet , sweet , dried dark fruits & caramel
MF-decent carbonation , big full body , needs time to mellow
Ov-bit rough overall , might have to keep the BA 2017 in the cellar for a couple of extra years

Sweet sherry and what seemed like a bit of oxidation even though it's a wax top bottle. Hops come through a bit in the aroma. Fairly sweet with a minor hop note that isn't sharp at all. Slick, oily mouthfeel. Big, boozy, and drinkable, but lacking depth. Not too shabby.

2015 vintage.

Hazy brown, bit of tan head quickly dissipates.

Aroma is boozy, with figs, raisins and brown sugar.

Taste is sticky, figgy pudding, with some alcohol heat.

Full and sweet with a drying alcohol finish.

Beer is dark brown with no head - very minimally carbonated. Nose is quite sweet, caramel and toffee with some dark fruits and grass. Flavour is much the same, with sweet malts playing the biggest role. Quite sweet, almost syrupy. Pretty good, but a bit one-dimensional and overly sweet. Alcohol is quite well hidden considering the strength. Full bodied, could do with a bit more carbonation, as it comes across a bit heavy.
