It's fairly dark in here, but other than it's a nice place.

HopCat East Lansing has a nice industrial vibe with some great art throughout. The tap selection is definetly above average with something for everyone. Food is pretty decent although a touch expensive. Waiters and waitresses are more than willing to try and answer any questions about the beers. Defiently a nice play to get a beer and grab a bite to eat.

This place has a ton of good beer, over 100 on tap. Incredible food, especially the crack fries. They always seem to be busy, but they have plenty of seating. You won't regret going to this bar!

HopCat came into town after I had already left the Lansing area, but I was very familiar with the GR location so I knew I had to check out the East Lansing one. Love coming back here when I'm in town for Football or Basketball games. Great food and a fantastic beer selection. Get the crack fries! You won't regret it!

Love the vibe, great artwork, and the old church light fixtures are awesome. Only thing is they have alot of crappy bartenders, I understand it is in a college town bar. However you are going to get craft enthusiasts in for beer dinners and don't be surprised if they ask questions if something is available. My only gripe :)

Love that it's so close but the students make it almost unbearable while school is in. Prefer the vibe in GR. That said, food was spot on and the tap selection was killer. Will return in the summer.

Hopcat has a great selection with so many fantastic vintage and hard to find beer. The set up is unique and comfortable with a urban vibe. The food is great (crack fries!) with fantastic service. Perfect for any craft beer lover.

HopCat has a great industrial urban vibe, and an incredible beer selection of over 100+ beers on tap, including a number of great Michigan craft beers. The food is also awesome (order the crack fries with beer cheese).

I finally got a chance to check out HopCat's East Lansing location when visiting an old friend of mine from college when we both happened to be in town. It didn't disappoint.
The decor was nothing spectacular, but it makes a good attempt to make you feel cozy here. Is it cold outside? Then you might as well stay here all night and check out the menu. Which, by the way, has 100 taps. It's insane. Everything from a German Hefeweizen, to a local Michigan brew.
Things got busy, but the 2-story design got us a table quickly. Then we were presented with the beer menu. Talk about intimidating! The staff was very friendly and listened to us when we spied a better table. The upstairs area got really loud, but come on... college town, Saturday night, it happens.
All in all, this place is exactly when East Lansing needs. It's a place where you can grab any style you can think of, for a reasonable price, and it kicks the butts of every other bar in town. Hopefully this is a trend and more beer bars will start popping up in the area. Too bad I live in Arizona now. Oh yeah, the food is great too.

Great venue. I like the design of the space, the artwork that was used.
It sounds like something like this has been needed in East Lansing for a while, so I'm glad the BarFly crew made it happen.
Now to the HopCat itself. I wasn't blow away. The taplist had nothing that really stood out to me, where as HopCat GR has at least 4 or 5 beers on a night that really take you back, and make you appreciate that true quality of the beer being served. HopCat Lansing felt much more middle of the road beer wise. College town possibly, trying to appeal to the beginner beer geek? That may be possible.
The food was HopCat food, tasty, pub food. The atmosphere was nice, and I really enjoyed all the natural light that was coming from the front windows. I don't travel thru Lansing all that often, and HopCat EL won't make it a destination for me.

So excited to see HopCat sprucing up the Lansing beer scene! I have only one knock, and that is the acoustics upstairs. God damn is that a loud area. Other than, well, there's 100 taps with great variety and good rotation. Food could easily begin and end with the crack fries (co-workers still talking about them two days later), but I've had some darn good sammiches there too. Prices are reasonable. Looking forward to the events they set up. Best spot in Lansing.
