Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. August 2015. Bottled by Beltway Brewing Sterling VA.

Slightly turbid, but with a healthy and lemon merringue like body glow. Slight middle column of rising carbonation, meeting to a big bleach white soapy two finger head, big and bubbled with a slightly settling creamy top and small retention.

Aroma hits with large hop angle, slightly in the tropical pineapple realm, and a big rose petal perfume. Fleshy stone fruit oil and fruit really seem to round out, with a varying mix. Perfume angle seems to go for a bit of strong herbal notes of spruce as well, perhaps even mixing in orange and tangerine.

Palate brings much of that fruit attention forward. Large notes of zesty oils, stone fruit, slightly hinting citrus particularly on the flesh, and mimosa like flavors in the mid palate. Minimal tartness, a hint of bread and even a little bit of spice. The fruit angle is very dominant, from a mix of added fruit and hop aromas. Surprisingly minimal beer character going on here. Vinous and a bit astringent with big sticky teeth coating character as well.

Overall, neat brew, but I am looking for a little more beer like character than drinking over hopped fruit juice these days. However, it does at least have some beer character, and does have some real excellent flavors.

Drank from 16oz tulip glass. Bottled during January of 2018.

Notes on the bottle: Best served at 40-45 Fahrenheit. Best served in tulip or wine glass. Keep refrigerated, and drink fresh.
This beer is 5.4 ABV.

Look: 4.0
Nice translucent yellow color, very vibrant. Hazy a slight hazed or unfiltered look. I achieved about 1 & 1/2 fingers worth of head on a slow pour. No lacing left in glass.

Smell: 3.75
I pick up on tangerine, pear, papaya, and apricot (though I know there is apricot since it says on the bottle). Some peach, lemon and grapefruit also present. The thing that is off putting is the hop aroma, which combined with the things noted above, I don't find all that appealing. As I get a big nose on the beer, I can pick up on some oak smells.

Taste: 3.75
I appreciate that this beer is more sour rather than tart. The apricot is actually detectible, couple with a pear and tangerine presence. The dry hopping adds a nice addition to the taste. It isn't necessarily bad, it just isn't up to par compared to other Grimm offerings I have had.

Feel: 4.0
Light and crisp, with a medium feeling body. Carbonation seems moderate to high, bordering more on the high side. It coats your tongue, and leaves a residual sticky residue.

Overall: 4.0
This is an easy drinking offering, but not my favorite from Grimm. I wish I could pick up a little more oak character on the taste, but it isn't a deal breaker. For 5.4ABV, its light and east to drink, but hard to justify being a little more on the pricey side. As always, I am thankful to have tried this beer. Cheers!

The description in the profile sums it up well: American wild/sour ale brewed with apricots, dry hopped with El Dorado, Columbus, and Cascade, and conditioned on oak. The feel is light, tart and crisp, but seems sour and puckering at times. Flavor is fruity with grapefruit, apricot, lemon, orange peel and tangerine leading the way, followed by floral notes, citrus, light peppery spices and earthy notes which bring out what seems like cedar. A lot going on, but this has nice balance and plenty of interesting accents. Refreshing on a muggy summer night, I’d definitely have it again.

Milky-pale light yellow with frothy head and mild effervescence.
Mmmm, it smells delightful -- lots of funk, tart stonefruit, and wheat. The barnyard is vibrant and fresh, but never negative. The apricot character specifically comes through on subsequent nosing.
It tastes both more much tart (lactic acid) and much more apricot-y than anticipated. Scintillating and surprising. Light and spritely and fun, with an clean aftertaste that arrives all too soon.
I've been very impressed with Grimm, and this is no exception. Highly recommended.

Pretty good drinking sour beer but without much sign of the advertised hops. Appearance is a mammoth frothy head that soon settles and hazy yellow. Aroma is mostly yeast with a bit of citrus and spice. Flavor has lots of lemon and a suggestion of hop. Lively mouth filling body.

Pours a super cloudy dull yellow. Very little head. Small amount of lacing. I'm really torn on the issue of turbid beer. Some of the most flavorful beers I've ever tasted are very turbid. Some say turbid beer is a brewing fault and technically speaking they are correct.

Smells of apricot, grapefruit, and orange. Like a very bitter OJ. Get a hint of funk.

Tastes of orange juice, grapefruit, apricots, and peach. Definitely a touch of barnyard funk.

Mouthfeel is nice and soft. Very pleasant.

Had on tap. Pours hazy, orange-yellow, with 1/4 inch head. Taste is big grapefruit, apricot, other citrus flavors like lemon and orange, as well as a good dose of sour mix. Very interesting and complex beer. I enjoyed this one and would not hesitate to pick it up again.

This beer pours and looks like thick mango juice. Light foamy head and a wispy lace.

Smells lightly of apricot the finish shows the fruit well. Up front I'd like more of the fruit, but it's still nice. Hops are there but mostly give an earthy, floral feel and flavor. Has a zesty grapefruit peel feel that is a bit harsher.

The apricot is a nice touch and really works well with the style, with a bit more pop, this would be outstanding.

22 Oz bottle poured into can glass did not look for a bottle date.

A: Bright orange body with a lot of cloudiness. Head was white soapy and big.

S: Slight oak, sourishness, apricots were noticeable

T: Dry, lots of apricots maybe a little bit of a vinegar taste and the finish was solidly oak tasting.

M: Dry very effervescent tingly on the tongue very crisp as well finished neat and clean.

O: This is an exceptional wild ale, a lot of the beers the fruit gets lost in the sour or the vinegar. This beer the apricots literally leap out at you in the most enjoyable way. The beer ends with beautiful oak notes. The beer is not over the top sour either.
