Ultra hazy yellow that pairs invitingly with a hoppy, citrusy aroma that maybe promises a hint of fun. The tast is tart, and I started to write, "pleasant but nothing stands out, so good but not great," but I poured some more in order to be more descriptive and discovered. . . more. This is a nuanced beer in that the more you sip, the more layers emerge--stone fruits, lemon, oak, and things I can't quite name yet. Enjoyable from the getgo, but more impressive the more you focus. Tongue-tingling mouthfeel adds to the pleasure. Another worthwhile Grimm ale.

This beer is phenomenal. In fact, after having it in my fridge for about a year, it's even better. Aroma is close that what you would get in a mimosa. Flavor follows, but with an impressive combination of oak and apricot on the finish. Delicious, refreshing, yet dry. Love it.

Medium gold and cloudy with a small amount of head. The aroma was hoppy to me, the only real evidence of the dry hopping. Moderate sourness, apricot was light, and not much oak. Medium body and carbonation for a sour. Not as complex as other sours from Grimm.

16oz can served in an E9 Zwanze Day wineglass. Canned on 09/29/21. Sent to me by @jonphisher.

Pours a moderately hazy light yellow color with a small head. Smell is tart, unripe stonefruit, grassy/leafiness. From the can, clear apricot and hop resin.

Taste is tart, unripe stonefruit, a little lemon, most of the grassy/leafiness is gone, but I still get hop resin and I think the apricot shines. Moderate bitterness.

Mouthfeel is light, dry, resinous. Overall, very nice beer.

Pours a hazy light yellow with fine, light head.

Smell is tart with notes of apricot, passiofruit, cedar and some grass.

Taste is tart and a bit oaky with notes of apricot, passionfruit, grass, youghurt and a hint of grapefruit, and grapefruit rindy bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium, a bit creamy and brightly carbonated.

Overall, a nice little sour. I'm never disappointed by Grimm.

Canned 07/07/20

Great looking fully hazed/clouded chalky dull yellow pour, moderate larger bubble film, collar and minor bits of lacing.

Sweet tropical fruit sniff, with passion fruit, lemon and melon coming to mind.

Sweet tropical fruits, with a just more then mild sour sting....pineapple , lime, yes apricots, assorted stone fruits all chiming in....highly complex and delicious nectar....fine stuff from Grimm...get some

NE hazy with not much foam.

Citric fruit and grain. Lemon candy.

Fruity soda, sorta apricot, sorta orange and sorta bacteria. Not sour and on the very low end of tart -- curbed due to barrel aging? Were I tasting blind, I'd guess 70% NEIPA and 30% sour ale. Very bright, though.

Full bodied, right? Not crisp but no after taste, IMO.

As summer wanes over here on the west coast, I've begun to push through my supply of "summer" beers. The days grow shorter, and my shelves of sours, fruit ales, saisons, and "juice bombs" slowly dwindle down to a few cans. I discovered this can of "wild ale" sitting in the way back, and having had Peche n' Brett the day before, I decided drinking this would be the logical progression.

It was not.

The scent out of the can was subtle, a spicy sourness with a nose of unripe apricots that seemed distant. The second the beer was poured into my glass, those apricots seemed to disappear. So much for that. The color of the beer was a light orange with zero head. Flavorwise, at the top of the glass there was a bit of sourness, followed by bitter but mild oak on the back end. As soon as that sourness petered out (about a third of the way down) the beer began to display more citrus qualities, namely pithy grapefruit rind, with a lingering acidity that one would expect from fruit, but without the fruit flavor. There was also a green bitterness that reminded me of licking the pit from an unripe stonefruit.

I feel that that at the crux of the flavor/color/scent is a mediocre mimosa, specifically the kind that might be handed to you by a flight attendant, or a dive bartender, or a frat boy. It could easily be a stand-in for a blend of cheap OJ mixed with a pour of bottom shelf champagne that you consume with the hopes of feeling elevated or refined. When you reach the bottom of your can, or tulip glass, or solo cup, I think you'll find that it's difficult to recall what this easily forgettable beer tasted like.
