pours thick and viscous, but tastes a little thin. metallic and tinny. a little hot with the abv. second pour get s me a coca-cola type of fizzy head which dissipated quickly. not much maple but a sweetness if i let it rest on the sides of my tongue.

2021 vintage. Pours near black from the bottle, red tinted near the edges; foamy 1.5" tan head with excellent retention and lacing. Nose is maple syrup, milk chocolate, light roasted coffee, black licorice, slight alcohol burn. Taste is maple forward, followed by dark, charred malts, black licorice, woodsy spice, and plenty of bitterness. Alcohol heat comes through on the finish, but not too overwhelming. Mouthfeel is moderate, but given the flavor profile, it feels a little thin, especially with the its lively carbonation, similar to a cola. Solid overall, but lacking in complexity and richness.

Pours somewhat dark, minimal head. Great aroma of milk chocolate and maple. Flavor is dark chocolate, bitter espresso, maple that is not too sweet. Very tasty. Light carbonation, thin texture. Overall a decent BA Stout.

2021 bottle from the brewery in Brooklyn for the 3rd year brick and mirror anniversary. Pours black with a finger of light tan foamy head, smell is sticky toffee cake, maple syrup, cocoa powder, and semi-spicy bourbon, taste is maple syrup, toffee cake, bourbon on the finish, hints of dark chocolate and coffee, feel is full bodied and smooth. A very maple forward BBA stout.

Had this a cest cheez in Port Jeff, NY. Amazing smell coming off this one, taste follows the same trend. Mouthfeel is thick, the maple is really pleasant. Dangerous how I want more with the 11% abv, the taste really makes you not think about it.

Bottle from February 2016, held since purchase. Had heard a bunch of theservice were infected so was nervous but thankfully I skirted the infection and drinking just fine.
pours as you'd expect, black as a stout. nosecarries some heat and hints and bourbon with subtle maple notes. maple is also subtle on the taste but is there and overpowers the bourbon...you get some boozy sharpness but it could be any spirit.
all in all good, not great. just timid. nothing jumps out but it is tasty. with maple aND bourbon I have certain expectations that are not met...but that saod, what you've got here is a dangerously drinkable silky BA stout.

A: poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a finger and a half of dense tan head that fades slowly to a small with minimal lacing
S: Smells of roasted coffee and dark chocolate with some maple, oak and bourbon notes
T: Taste is maple sweetness, cocoa powder, cold brewed coffee, oak and some caramel and vanilla sweetness. Swallow is slightly astringent oak and charred wood with some lingering maple, caramel, vanilla and booziness
M: This beer is thick and velvety on the palate with soft carbonation that is adequate for the style with a drying finish
O: Overall this is a good beer but it isn't quite as good as some others. The astringency is a little off but it doesn't detract too far. Alcohol is a little more apparent than I would like for the ABV and style. It shows promise but I think they could do this one better if they were to try again.
