Mango Pop! is in our series of creamsicle-inspired Berliners. IT pours an opaque yellow with a fruited acidity that is balanced deftly by a delicate ice cream sweetness from the milk sugar and vanilla. The beer never becomes cloying and each sip demands another.

L - Mango smoothie with a tiny head froth
S - very clean and tart of mangos and other citrus fruits
T - Same as the nose but the lactose gives off a kind of unwanted cheese flavor stuck on the tongue. Pretty tasty but kind of ruins the after taste
F - Smooth and fluffly mouthfeel thanks to the lactose

Picked this up at Julio's almost a year ago...been trying to crack it for a while but it always got bumped by something 'bigger and better'. Enough is enough, time to drink it. Bottled April 2017.

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice mostly clear light straw hue with a billowing 4 finger head fades to leave sticky side lacing and a thin blanket. The head just erupted out of the bottle.

S - Aromas of cracked wheat, lemon tartness, maybe a little flash of mango/tropical.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Nice wheat notes, not getting much vanilla at all. There is some light lacto notes. The mango is really faint lending an almost generic tartness to it. Finish is nice, quite nice. Somehow that's where it all comes together with very nice vanilla and mango notes. Almost like a vanilla mango shake.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, almost too much so. Finish is nice, not flemmy or overly tart.

O - Overall I wouldn't mind trying this beer again fresh. Maybe then the mango and vanilla would be more in the forefront as opposed to where it is now. Still though, it is a tasty, refreshing beer.

With a pop of the cap and its pop off the tongue, notions of sparkling sodas and pop rocks pop into the mind when Grimm brewers reel in the zesty mango fruit for a "Pop" series ale that certainly lives up to its name.

Mango Pop pops onto the nose with a zesy, winey, fruity and candied scent. Pale straw, lightly golden and appearing like a pastel orange sherbet, the part froth and part fizz rolls from a tropical fruit juice scent and into the flavors of much the same. Taffy, confectioner's sugar and pastries come to mind as the malt sweetness lightly coats the tongue.

With the bulk of sweetness drifting away, a mild sweetness lingers behind to give the copious mango additions a candied taste along with a balance to the fruit's vinous acidity. Briskly sour, the underlying beer lays a swath of lime, lemon, crabapple, white grape and gooseberry on the palate to add complexity to the mango and to balance its sweet succulence with sourness. Honeydew, green berry and kiwi all add a hint of surprise as the ale's light herbal finish is mild with mint and cork.

Medium bodied for sour ale, the beer's high fruit character is supercharged with carbonation, reinforcing the notion of the beer popping off of the palate with the fuel of carbonic bite at its back. A brisk and sharp finish leads to a brief aftertaste of radiant mango and dry burlap.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 4/2017. Pours hazy pale golden/straw color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy mango, peach, pineapple, tangerine, lemon, lime, melon, pear, red/green apple, vanilla, and cream; with lighter notes of wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, pepper, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, mangos, lactose, vanilla, and light-moderate pale notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy mango, peach, pineapple, tangerine, lemon, lime, melon, pear, red/green apple, vanilla, and cream; with lighter notes of wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, pepper, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of juicy/tart/tangy mango, peach, pineapple, tangerine, lemon, lime, melon, pear, red/green apple, vanilla, cream, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, mangos, lactose, vanilla, and light-moderate pale flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness for tangy/tartness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, creamy/grainy, and fairly acidic/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited Berliner weisse! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, mangos, lactose, vanilla, and light-moderate pale flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the mellowly lactic/tangy balanced finish. Really awesome balance between all flavors, with great classic style notes along with the fruit/vanilla. Sweeter from the lactose as expected, but not overdone. A highly enjoyable offering.

Pours a hazy pineapple juice color with a firm head of 1/2 finger in my sniftah. It's really pretty.

The aroma surprisingly reminds me of a Trillium IPA, with lots of pineapple, mango, orange juice, lemon, and slight herb. Also has somewhat of a cask aroma. Pretty neat.

Delicious flavors of lemon zest, tons of mango, a little papaya, some vanilla, and a touch of cotija or parmigiano. It's kind of got this sliced dry cheese flavor at the end. As it warms that cheese flavor turns into fried egg pan scrapings. Totally weird.

Feel is like a fruit smoothie; thick, creamy, slightly pulpy. I love it.

Overall, I'd love to try the other Pop!'s and see what they have to offer. Still, Mango Pop! is a very refreshing sour with a wide flavor palette.

L: Pours a cloudy, opaque pale yellow. Essentially the exact color of the properly proportioned mimosa. Thin, quickly dissipating head with minimal lacing

S: Smells of mango with orange undertones and just a hint of the lactose sugars

T: Starts tart and dry up front with tart mango then fades into a mid palate with orange and lactose sugars and ends with more mango and a little vanilla. The taste is quite reminiscent of a mango dreamsicle.

F: Creamy, smooth mouthfeel owing to the lactose sugars

O: Overall a great beer. The lactose adds great body and provides the intended flavors perfectly without making it overly sweet or heavy. If it were just a hair cheaper (and sold in cans) this would be a go-to summer beer for me
