Notes: Relatively crisp riff on NE-style IPA with notes of strawberry & passionfruit. Simcoe & Azacca take the starring roles here.

First time I've come across a Grimm IPA here in MA and well worth the wait. Can't get enough of these citrusy IPAs and this once certainly doesn't disappoint.

Picked up 4pk at MaPa’s. Nice lighter but still flavorful IPA. Passion fruit more of a standout though berries and a bit of mango like stone fruit... combination added some interesting (sipping vs quaffing) complexity

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that died down, leaving delicate lacing on the surface and a web of bubbles down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of passionfruit are present in the nose along with notes of orange citrus.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that there are notes of strawberries and the flavors of orange are more subdued. There is a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is packed with lots of aromas and flavors of fruits. There is a bit of bitterness and crispness so I wouldn't classify it as being "juicy" like some of the other New England-style IPAs out there are like.

This beer pours a cloudy yellow orange color very similar to Tropicana OJ. The head is one finger, creamy and white. Retention is excellent and there is a moderate amount of spotted lacing left on the glass.

Smell is fairly subtle. Pineapple, mango and grapefruit are all I'm picking up.

Taste is similar, but much more flavorful than the smell. It starts off bright, fruity and juicy, but that is swept aside mid sip by a strong pithy and piney bitterness that I haven't tasted in a Grimm beer since the original batch of Pulse Wave.

Feel is light and soft with a good bit of prickliness on the finish from the bitterness.

Overall this is a very good beer. I've stopped going out of my way for every Grimm release (actually was gifted this 4pk from a good friend) and although I enjoyed this beer, it isn't worth the effort needed to track it down. Just for fun I drank my last one of these side by side in a blind tasting with Two Roads Two Juicy. Unfortunately I could tell from smell alone which was which, but I definitely preferred Two Juicy. Not to mention it was $3.50 per can compared to the $5+ per can that Grimm goes for in these parts.

On tap, pours a moderately hazy light gold. Huge passion fruit and pineapple on the nose and taste. Characteristic Grimm sweet/tart tropical notes. Bit of resinous bitterness. Another great one in the Grimm house style.

Can to becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-hazy burnt orange color with a fingers worth of white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Sly messy lace. The aroma had some sweet and tart strawberry up front with a little bit of pine, grassiness, citrus and papaya/peach/tangerine quality backing it all up. The flavor was sweet with a punch of the bitter pine to amplify the full embrace of the bittersweetness of it all. Aftertaste followed suite. Finish was somewhat quick and fruity tart and sweet. The palate was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, pretty nice AIPA that I could have again.

Pours a hazy golden radiating with mango and pineapple aroma. Tons of strawberry flavor. Kind of reminds me of Pliny. Not in a bad way. More in a doesn't blow me away but is still really good way. That's what Halftone is.
