Notes: Tetraplex is the amped up Tesseract! At 10% abv, this triple IPA is deceptively easy drinking with even more hops and flavor than Tesseract. It’s bio-hopped and double dry-hopped with mosaic cryo and is exploding with flavors of pineapple, mango, gummy peach rings, mandarin oranges, and melon.

Been a while since I had a beer from Grimm but this offering from last year was next in my queue here at the house. The Tesseract was one of the first (and best) offerings that I had from them so this was one that I had to reach for when it went on sale. To my surprise, it wasn't as a good but was a solid brew that was easy to drink with the alcohol being as recessed as could be for an American Imperial IPA!

Bright and gold, this had lots of dark sediment in it but that was probably my fault and not theirs! A sufficient head topped this off as the lacing left behind was beautifully extensive as it easily covered a majority of my pint glass. Quite an overripe and dank feel to the aroma with lots of peach, urine, melon, candied sugar, deep tangerine, and funky hops in the nose. The taste was just as varied, slick, and full of deep fruit with some herbal tea, onion spice, and hop burn thrown into the mix as well. Balanced, oddly sticky, and full of rind, this packed a wallop although it took a while to fully feel it.

That's because the booze didn't hit me up front and the balanced body kept this from feeling like a hop, juice, or alcohol bomb. Canned on 1/21/19, this was decent a year later and certainly put the Imperial into it's style. Not the best from Grimm but this was a solid beer with a lot of depth to it, as it only reinforced the idea of how good the Tesseract was. Lots going on here and worth a go if you have the time to savor a beast of beer that creeps up on you!

Hazy medium gold color with frothy lacing. Big onion and garlic aroma with pungent citrus and peppery rind. Very spicy on the nose. Taste is onion, garlic, pungent spicy peppery citrus, and a nice lingering resiny balanced citrus bittersweet ending. Very dry on the back off the mouth and cleaves a thick coating of hops. This is an outstanding big IPA! Recommended.

Wow. Ima call this one nature in a can, cuz it’s like as if Grimm chopped down a grapefruit tree, added some hops, n den put it in a can. At 10% this thang is smoother than Wilt Chamberlain. Bank off the backboard? Nah, this one is 100% swish!

A 1 pint can, canned on 21st January 2019. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.

Appearance: A hazy golden colour with a two finger white head that had good retention and left lots of nice lacing.

Aroma: Pineapple, mango, tea, mandarin, citrus rind, orange peel, grass and maybe a touch of pine.

Taste: Bittersweet, peach, melon, pineapple, underripe mango, orange rind, slight onion and booze.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with moderate to low carbonation.

Overall: I'm not a huge Triple IPA fan, but this was one of the better ones I've tried. Perhaps on the borderline of being too sweet for me, the balanced bitterness brought it back in line with my palate. Definitely worth a try.
