This rich and decadent imperial milk stout is layered with silky flavors; Kenyan Kieni AA arabica beans, prized by our friends at Sey Coffee for their brightness and berry-like complexity, mingle with toasted coconut flakes and vanilla for a deeply satisfying stout that shows each element in a harmonious balance.

Not bad. Strong coffee presence, sweet vanilla and coconut counteract the roasty bitterness. As it opens up, really rounds out well. Tasty, boozy, not oily or thick. Very good.

Pours pitch black, impervious to light. Big mocha head lasts for a while. Huge coconut aroma, faint chocolate and vanilla, coffee is more pronounced. Quite sweet, very thick and creamy. Lots of coffee and coconut, mixed with roasted chocolate malt, vanilla bean is noticing. Finish is light bitter espresso. Overall a fantastic dessert beer, love the coconut. Sweet, but not overly sweet. Would drink again.

500 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours dense opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense/creamy/fluffy khaki head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Amazing appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, lactose, coconut, vanilla, coffee, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and roast, charred, coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, lactose, coconut, vanilla, coffee, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mild increasing warmth of 11.5% after the finish. Overall this is an amazing flavors imperial stout. All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, lactose, coconut, vanilla, coffee, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on with the mellowly bitter/charred/drying finish. Amazingly balanced between super rich malts, lactose, coconut, vanilla, and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with nice earthy hop presence/balance against sweetness, and restrained fruity yeast. A highly enjoyable offering, and top tier style example. One of their best stouts so far.
