Notes: A dry, spicy, and complex Belgian-style ale inspired by Trappists. Aroma and flavor marked by the marriage of peppery spice, citrus, and pear. Noble hops assertively utilized to create balance.

Fine, fine example of this Belgian style.

Beautiful microbead head; perfect levels of carbonation. Hugely impressive balance--no harsh alcohols. Spiciness mellows into hop presence/white grape/pear. Great yeast choice.

Try this beer with their local cheese plate when you visit. Otherwise, let's hope they bottle in the near future.

Interesting take on a Belgian Tripel. Leans a little more less sweet with bittering hops. Still quite enjoyable, just a little different flavor profile from most Tripels I’ve had.

I am sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Picked up at the brewery about 4 weeks ago and has been in my fridge since. Date stamp says 9/12/2021.
the beer pours a bright clear golden color with a fizzy bleached white head of about 2 cm. This foam fades to a sturdy edge layer and a large wispy island in the center of my glass. Several active streams of fine bubbles rise to the surface but do not do enough to feed the foam.
the aroma of this beer fits the style, slightly sweet and fruity with a little bit of a bready malt scent too. I primarily get pears and a little white grape. Generally sweet nose.
First sip reveals a medium to lighter body and smooth silky texture. Very easy drinking brew.
Flavor is sweet like the nose with fruity notes of white grape pears and maybe some spicy clove. Also maybe banana, neither is a bold note, so its a little hard to pull out in the flavor profile. As it warms I lean towards banana in the background. Finish is very dry with a bit of black pepper bite to remind me of the 9% ABV. Otherwise this is a dangerously drinkable brew. I think the head retention was short, but otherwise I am enjoying this brew and Im glad I picked up a non lager from a lager famous brewery!

SCHILLING ERASTUS 3/13/21

a: cloudy yellow/orange with no head and just a wisp of surface foam.

s; Belgian yeast banana.

t: Follows the nose with a sharp hop bite. Dry finish.

m: medium, good body and carbonation tingle.

o: Unusual combination to hop up a tripel. Just about what might be expected. Well done but IMO not a success as a hybrid of Belgian tripel and DIPA level hops.

Picked up a four pack while visiting the brewery 9-15-20 for $14.00. Canned on 090320; consumed for review 11-20-20.

Beer poured golden with an okay white head that did not billow and dissipated pretty quickly.

Nose is malt forward with hints of herbal hops and light fruits.

Taste is a huge malt base with a banana presence with the first sips, and pear with my palette adjustment, and a nice peppery phenolic finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and pretty smooth.

Overall a tasty brew and there is a nice expression of the yeast in the taste but the brew lacks the feel and look of traditional tripel.

A: Golden in appearance. Decent clarity only diminished by some fine particulates suspension. Rising carbonation can't keep this head afloat, however. Rocky finger of head that concaves deeply toward center before petering out shortly after the pour.

S: Sugar like sweetness of crystallized citrus. Mildly spicy hop profile and a grainy-malt sweetness. Pome fruit esters.

M: Dry in body and moderately light feel.

T: A very good Americanized tripel with a spicier bite I attribute to the hops more than the yeast. Has the dryness and lightness of a Belgian golden that gives the hops more freedom. Good bitter twang without being imbalanced, and the ying/yang with the malt is really good. Pepper, juniper, botanical and citrus finish.

I snapped up a 4-pack of this yesterday at The Beer Store (Nashua) for $17. Now out in The 'Zebo trying to beat the intense heat with a 16oz can.

My snifter is now holding a bright, medium golden brew, with minimal carbo. Head is a fine, thin covering of white foam, most of which is at the rim. Lacing is also on the light side. Aroma is a bit bready, with some cookie dough. Then tropical and green fruit smells fill the air, with pear, green apple, and a touch of yeasty action. Body is a decent medium, with only a little prickle on the tongue.

Taste kicks off with a hint of biscuit, light pale malts. Has more green apple and pear, some bubblegum, and a hint of honey. Finishes with peppery notes, and an earthy yeastyness. A solid rendition of the style!! Prosit!!!

On tap at the brewery! Excited to try the non-dry-hopped version, and it doesn’t disappoint. Just quintessential tripel all around. Delicious.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has some fine particulates floating in suspension along with a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that died down, leaving just a narrow ring of bubbles around the edge and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of Belgian yeast and candi sugars are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has spicy flavors of Belgian yeast along with notes of candi sugar and hints of alcohol.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This tripel does a good job at providing contrasting flavors of candi sugar and spicy yeast. It also hides its alcohol very well.

One of my favorite American Belgian style tripels.
Spicy, fruity aroma/taste, with an excellent spicy bitterness.

NO can date
Pours a large frothy creamy 1.5 finger head with moderate retention, getting a little rocky as it fades, soapy fluffy lacing, mostly clear slight chill hazed pale golden color

Nose brings nice fruity esters out front, citrus, pome fruit, bubblegum, with some mild peppery spicy phenols, a doughy creamy wheat base with a little cereal and mild sweet candi sugar like aromas

Taste starts with the fruity esters again but with sweet candi sugar on top, some citrus apricot marmalade like, mild candied pome fruit, a bit of bubblegum esters as well, light phenols again with a little peppery note and some spices with a little smooth alcohol flavor, mild bitterness with a little spicy hop phenol spice bitterness I feel, sweet orange peel, a little honey, orange cake with vanilla icing, light doughy wheat-like malt, finishes a bit sticky, some warming alcohol and more orange cake with vanilla icing, and mild bubblegum

Mouth is med bod, higher fizzy almost effervescent carb, light warming alcohol

Overall a solid tripel, well done and quite enjoyable, def hits the spot when I'm in the mood for the style, so glad I got a few of them

Beer pours a hazy yellow with a nice amount of head. The nose for me was very orange forward with some spice. Nice offering from them as beer was easy drinking and had a nice amount of body to it.

L: Poured from a bottle to a goblet. Had an orange / amber color and a slightly hazy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, somewhat long-lasting head. So-so lacing.

S: A very nice aroma of Belgian yeast, light fruit, hops, phenols, dark fruit, and spices as well.

T: Tasted of a mild amount of hops (kind of fleeting), a good amount of Belgian-style yeast), a lot of light fruit (apples and pears, to be specific), a little dark fruit (raisins), and some spice, too (pepper, especially). A light and lively flavor. It's more subtle than you would expect, but still quite complex. A focused and solid taste.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a sharp finish. Medium-bodied.

O: On the whole, a well done, enjoyable beer. Worth a look.

A- Tallboy pours into a snifter with a slightly cloudy yellow body and a fluffy and bubbly one finger cap. Pretty good head retention and a small ring leaves spotty lacing.

S- The aroma overall is grainy and hints at a considerable sweetness. A lot of cereal and some breadiness lead the aroma with floral and herbal hops beyond that. Definitely comes off as overly sweet here. I like how the grains give off a nice honey-esque sweetness but in the end it lacks the strong yeast presence to counteract that as it is just a bit spicy from the yeast. Grains and sweetness trump the booze and yeast a bit too much.

T- The general balance of the beer is much improved on the taste buds as the yeast seems to come alive and breath a lot of life into the beer here. The yeast is spicy with some peppery, clove and fruity esters balancing off of the sweet and bready cereal grains which are also a bit nutty. Building off that are some phenolics, pear hints and the hops which really open up. Great spicy fruity hop balance as a triple should have and when you add in the grains it just settles nicely on the palate.

MF- Body on the light side just shading towards medium. Carbonation is moderately high but the beer remains smooth with a texture between foamy and creamy. Herbal and spicy bitter ending.

One of those beers that is truly a tale of two worlds between the aroma and the flavor. The flavor is great. Tripel balance between spicy and fruity yeast, sweet and flavorful grain, booze and some herbal hops. Aroma is just overly grainy and sweet. Flavor outweighs aroma in this case and a really solid American take on a classic style.
