Notes: Nefiltrovaný (unfiltered) Czech Pilsner. Brewed with all Czech-sourced ingredients, triple-decocted and adhering to a traditional Czech brewing schedule. Notes of baked bread dominate. Rounded bitterness with a silky mouthfeel.

Hazed gold with a finger of short-lived, near-white head that quickly settles into a thin cap and leaves decent lacing.

Skunky sulfur and slight fruitiness in the nose.

Moderately bitter tasting, with a touch of both graininess and fruitiness, followed by some sulfur in the finish. Nice moderately bitter aftertaste.

Fairly thick and creamy for a pils. Moderate carbonation.

Solid example of the style. Not sure I’ve said this before, but body could be a bit thinner.

On tap at Lord Hobo in Cambridge, MA.

This one pours a clear golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like high quality baked bread, water crackers, grassy and spicy hops, and flowers.

These guys quietly make some of the most interesting lagers in the US. This has a wonderful malt character to it, with the classic rustic baked bread feel, and a light and smooth hop bitterness - floral/grassy/etc, with a touch of spice on the back end.

This is crisp, and very clean, and drinks quite smoothly, with a great level of drinkability.

Schilling is basically a must order whenever it see it on taplist.

Can. Another strong offering from Schilling. They are becoming a lager making machine. This is more of a robust lager. Darker golden in color. Fuller bodied but still quite drinkable. A nice sweetness with grain and lagery yeast flavor. A bit spicy in the hop department but it's only lightly hoppy overall. A nice brew.

Experience/Setting Mood:
This is my first review in a while. I had this beer at ACBF. They did not have a line all night in Friday. Exactly a year before the event I did part of my beer pilgrimage to Czechoslovakia during the summer of epic flooding. Still I sought out to try as many Pivo's as possible. So how did this compare: The Pivo 12 weight held true to its name and more. Sidenote, I do understand the word pivo does mean beer or drink in Czech, but I use it as the classification of Czech beers more specifically Czech Lagers which they are most known.

Apperence: see through golden lager with very tight uniform carbonation. Head was very light but I attribute that to the 1 oz to 2 oz pours allowed by mass law. Check the box for appearance compared to its namesake across the pond.

Smell: light, malty, clean, crisp, sweet grains, fresh, not much hops or bitters noticed. Check again.

Taste: sweet golden honey (not thick), clean crisp, light, grainy, malty, fresh, clean, the bitters cleans the palate for the next beer. Yes, this is beer for the style where it is at. Double check.

Mouthfeel: very light clean and crisp. Could create head when chewed but would not expand to bloat the mouth.

Overall: 5 out of 5. I wish I could get this in Boston when ever I wanted during the summer. In this style this is in the top 5 to top 3 of the 12 weight Pivo's. This will compete with any style Bavarian Lager or Pilsner out there and hold its own. Not the best in class Pivo 12 but it my 3rd or 4th and definitely number 1 from an American Brewer that I have tried.

Light golden color with a 3F head in a Pilsner glass.
The aroma isn’t strong, and other Czech pilsners I’ve tasted usually have a stronger aroma:
malty,
slightly bready.
The body is a little on the thin side, and other beers in the style usually have a slightly heavier body.
The taste is excellent, especially with warming. Pilsner malt, bready, traditional taste.
Very moderate bitterness, and not very hoppy.
Good representation of the style.

A: The beer is relatively clear and is a darker shade of yellow in color with a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of bready malts are present in the nose along with notes of noble hops.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of bready and dough-like malts, except that there is a light amount of bitterness and there are also some hints of mineral water.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and very clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This pilsner was rather malty but was still very easy to drink.

Excited to try another Czech Pils, especially from Schilling since I know they do these right. Canned 2020/12/04

Pours a med-smaller fizzy head with lower retention, a touch of lacing, very clear med golden honey blonde color

Nose starts with doughy grainy-sweet pilsner malt, cereal, a little fruity note, some pilsner corn, light herbal floral hops, and a tiny bit of a sulfate note

Taste brings lots of malt, grainy-sweet pilsner malt, as well as sweet corn, a bit doughy and more cereal and bread, sweeter than I expected overall, med to lighter bitterness with herbal floral hops turning spicy as they go, a hint fruity, finishes dry with a crisp bitterness, lingering spicy hops with med bitterness

Mouth is med bod, med to a bit higher foamy carb, soft lager and crisp finish

Overall not bad, the malt profile was nice, hops were pretty good, nice sulfate enhanced crisp bitter finish, enjoyable but didn't blow me away. Interestingly this was triple decocted but doesn't seem to have the malt depth of what I expect it to have. I wonder if they triple decocted on fully modified malts in which case it won't make that much different.

More amber than gold, there's a very light haze to the liquid. Modest bar poured head which leaves a minor web of lace on the glass.

Oddly, I get a sweet perfume smell initially, almost like lavender.

The flavor is far less strange than the smell. I pick up on a pale and relatively dry malt. Highly carbonated with a weaker body. The hop is sharp and quick to dominate the flavor. Moderate bitter aftertaste time.

16 oz can with some barely legible numbers on the bottom.

Deep gold, almost light amber in color. Great clarity. Medium sized creamy white head that quickly settles to a thin layer.

Strong notes of baked bread in the aroma with moderate herbal hops in the background. Deep, rich malt flavor. Creamy feel with a firm bitterness. Medium-full bodied.

Loads of malt flavor for just 5.5% ABV. The hops are not hidden either. This is a really well crafted Czech-style pilsner. Which is music to my ears now that Schilling just started distributing a small amount to NJ. Picked up their Alexandr 10⁰ today and can't wait to try that as well.

Pours a clear dark straw, golden color with notes of caramel. A thumbnail length head dissipates and yields a thin ring.

Aromas of toasted malts and baked biscuit along with a touch of fruity/floral hops. Developing aromas of caramel, honey hops and sweet grass.

A strong malt profile highlights toasted and biscuity malts, caramel and semi crisp cracker impart sweetness. Well spiced with notes of wood, earth, grass and honey hops. The bitterness develops, especially in the finish, dry and crisp with a gentle lingering earthy spice.

Medium bodied and relatively smooth, yet with some crispness in the mouthfeel. The carbonation is moderate.

Nice Czech Pilsner that highlights malty flavors, yet is deftly hopped and well balanced.

A- Pours from the can into a stange glass with a clear deep golden body. The head is about one cm tall and has a thick foamy texture and decent retention. A small ring at the edges leaves spotty lacing.

S- Rich grains and plenty of hops which come on strong but aren't dominant or even close to pushing the grains out of balance. Grassy and spicy hops with crackery, grainy and bready malts. Tiniest bit of fruits.

T- I wouldn't say it leans toward the hops here as much as I would say the malts drop out a bit with less richness from the grains. The hops are grassy and spicy first with some herbal hints. Base Pils grain, white bread and cracker comes to mind with a touch of lingering sweetness to prevent it from being purely dry.

MF- Creamy and fluffy mouthfeel to the light overall body. The carbonation is fairly high and it ends with a dry feeling on the palate alongside a moderate bitterness.

Great balance of malts and hops in the aroma with spicy grassy hops balancing bready grains. Dry and hoppy on the palate with less malt presence.
