Poppy’s Moonship is our interpretation of a Leipzig, Germany-inspired Gose. Light funk in the aroma and lemony-tart, Poppy’s features an assertive sourness balanced by sea salt and a malty finish.

Pours an opaque pink lemonade, no head or retention to speak of. Nose is vaguely brackish; tough to tease out any distinct fruits. Taste warming from fridge temp is sour at the start; light berry and orange juice leads out from there. As it warms, light sour/salty fruit, but hard to tease out any distinct flavors. Pleasant, but nothing need here. Feel is light, bright, solid carb. Overall, it's a nice but not memorable.

Very, very nice sour Gose.... Interesting light color and appropriate carbonation ... Flavors are not obnoxious and understated ... This would be one for the deck in the summer for sure!

A: The beer is hazy light pale yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with just a minuscule collar of white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of sour lemons and yogurt are present in the nose; these become much stronger as the beer begins to warm up.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of sea salt.
M: It feels light-bodied and slightly creamy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a very good representation of a gose. The first one of these that I had before was a fruit-flavor version but I really enjoyed the base one without the extra additions as it made you appreciate the subtle sourness and saltiness even more.

Thanks to JLindros for hooking me up with a can of this.

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice slightly hazy pale straw hue with a fat two finger white head that fades slowly to leave a thin light blanket.

S - Aromas of bright lemon citrus and tons of creamy wheat. Coriander is a bit weak, possibly overpowered by the large amount of doughy wheat.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with more of those nice lemon notes. The wheat is quite intense again, big creamy lacto notes. The coriander finally makes an appearance as well before going back to the big wheat elements. After the sip the salinity pops nicely. Little floral note too throughout which is quite pleasant.

M - Mouthfeel looks big and almost billowy but after a minute or so it's all used up and the resulting beer is lower carbonated and not nearly as crisp and bright as I'd like. Due to the lack of carbonation it also comes across as thin.

O - Overall this was an enjoyable gose, something somewhat available. Biggest knock here was how quickly the carbonation became spent, leaving a rather under carbonated product with a thin body. If it stayed nice and bright throughout it would wind up being much, much better.
