Can from The Packie
Slightly hazy light golden in color with a bubbly white head that persists. Bready crackery maltiness with a touch of apple. Spicy earthy floral hops counter well.

Consumed 1/8/19

A: Medium gold with some straw tones - mostly clear with some chill haze - pours with a small white head, fades to a wispy cap and retains a medium collar, leaves some nice lacing

S: Nice balance of soft malts and traditional German hops - grassy Noble hops in a nicely non-aggressive way, some herbal notes - clean, soft malts - pilsner and maybe some soft Munich malt - soft grains, not exactly bready - very clean overall

T: Wonderfully balanced, as the aroma suggests - lightly grassy and herbal German hops, touch of spice - soft, grainy malt body - slight touches of toasted bread, hints of honey, crackers - low amount of sweetness but not overly dry - very clean with low bitterness in the aftertaste

M: On the light side of medium, medium carbonation, some malty smoothness but mostly crisp and clean

O: Clever Hanse

I find it fitting that the first beer I've bothered to review in 2019 is a pilsner. I've been craving lagers lately, even in the dead of winter, and the reason is that amazing ones like this are becoming more widely available. Drink this.

A:
Pours a slightly hazy dark straw with two fingers of rocky white head that settles to a healthy film. Good retention; tons of gorgeous lacing. (4.25)

S:
Spiced clean malt aromas with some lemon zest. (4.25)

T:
Bread crust, hay, clean malt flavor, Euro hop bite. (4.25)

M:
Dry with a kind chewy (but not big) body, zesty carbonation and a nice, clean finish. (4.25)

O:
A very, very nice Pilsner.
This is different enough to seem different and classic enough to seem timeless. It pours nice, with a gorgeous head. The aroma and flavor are both simple-yet-complex, light malt and floral, peppery European hops. It is very drinkable and has that necessary quality of feeling light and drinkable as well as rich and substantive. It might be a touch bready-er than I would have expected but, like I say, it's for the greater good. (4.25)

From a 16oz can, dated 08/01/18. Served in a pub glass.

Pours a clear honey colour with fairly active carbonation and a towering creamy head of fluff. A shade darker than your typical pils. Retention is on the order of five minutes, leaving a thick cap and moderate lacing.

A hearty nose of doughy bread, damp grain and and cider with just a whiff of lemon zest and spice.

The taste is thick and bready up front, all sweet yeasty dinner rolls and fruit spread, with late arriving substantial bitterness, the aforementioned lemon zest and spice.

Feel is at the same time fat and doughy and clean and quenching. Better-than-medium bodied and well carbonated. Seems bigger than 5% but remains eminently drinkable.

I hate the term 'poundable' but I'm going to go ahead and use it anyway: poundable. There, I said it. This beer is bready, fat and chewy, thick and malty and hopped all to bejeesus. I like it a lot.

On tap at Armsby Abbey. Pretty damn drinkable to go along with amazing pulled pork sandwich. Understand what ''bready'' means now, still crisp though

beautiful looking beer with hazed golden straw color and a bright white head that hangs around and decorates the glass. nose is bready, spice, mellow lager yeast quality. on palate is a very clean grain profile evoking crackers and cereal, there is your typical lemony, grassy, and slightly spicy floral hop quality, as well as a juicier like orange and grapefruity fruityness. overall quite hoppy and very tasty and a cool take on pils.

Hazy, dirty gold color. Moderate head but very little lace (a few minor spots).

Bready aroma of pale pilsner malt. Light floral hop.

Sweet lighter malt beginning. The hop bitterness is stronger than most pilsners, leaving a longer aftertaste than typical. Higher carbonation with an elevated body. A very good beer that veers from the traditional pilsner path.

Super delicious Pilsner. Excited to try more from these guys bc if you make a good light lager, everything else falls into place. Tasty malt bill, great hop character in the finish, and super drinkable.

16oz can served in a pilsner glass. Pours a lovely sunny gold with a tight, one inch, bright white head that slowly dissipates into a rocky froth. Clarity is semi-translucent. Nose is subdued and clean - hints of grass, lemon and noble hops. Taste consistent with nose with a crackery malt pop at the finish. Mouthfeel is light in body with an even, assertive carbonation. Overall, another winner from these guys. Lovely and drinkable.

From the 16 oz. can. Sampled on January 5, 2019.

The appearance is an unfiltered, slightly cloudy looking straw yellow with smooth bubbling carbonation going upward to the lingering white foamy head.

The aroma has an array of grainy, bready, crusty, and crackery malt characters with a hint of lemon and grassy hops.

Medium, smooth mouthfeel.

It is sweet and grainy at first but there is this oily kind of hop finish that lingers for a short while. Still mildly bitter and generally a likable beer.
