Can from Candia Road
Mostly clear deep golden color with a thin bubbly white head that persists. Earthy pepper and faint clove on top of a sweet bready maltiness. Crisp and fruity beer.

Pint can 5/5/19

It's kinda hard because I feel like the real authentic Belgian and French Brewed Saison/Farmhouse ale's are a kind of Pinnacle of brewing excellence.
Belgian styles in general are awe-inspiring in many ways....that being said, WTF is wrong with American Brewers brewing Belgian styles...I mean, seriously....

The yeast character is the key feature for me, strange, funky, complex and wild flavor effects should be nuts....
But instead it's just bananas and clove...time and time again.
Sorry for the rant, I hope I'm wrong...

Good looking: pale gold, slight haze, jazzy body, puffy white foam top. Bits of lace.

The aromatics prove my point: Bananas and cream, cloves, strawberry shortcake, cucumbers and Grandma's old spice rack is what I'm getting.
No "wild" side to the yeast charechter, no spicy Earth or sourness. French and Belgian brewed Saison Farmhouse styles have a very different effect, with huge earthiness and delightful funkiness. ....I swear every American brewed Saison smells like this! It's not "bad", just not what I love about the traditional style.

I believe most Belgian versions are Bottle conditioned with a super potent and wild form of yeast, which adds endless layers of crisp, smooth & silky texture to the mouth feel...
Hierarchy is clean, crisp and jazzy at first, then slick and malty in the middle (sigh) with a long, dry finish.
The yeast manages to provide a nice herbal-banana, dry spice (clove) and green veggies effect. Watery malt, slightly sweet and certainly thin body leaves your taste buds confused and curious.

Overall...here are the positives:
Yeast trying very hard to be interesting or unique. Crispy mouth feel for the first few seconds and the dry texture. 'nuff said.

A really tasty nice looking saison. Hay gold in color with nice white head that left some delicate lacing. Slightly sweet aroma. Taste was dominated by the bubble gum yeast, which made it taste something like a lower ABV tripel might taste like. Feel was medium. Overall, I really like this; I've had only a few Schilling beers and each time I have one I say, "I've got to get more..."! Cheers!

Poured into a 13 oz Kettlehead Snulip glass not sure when it was canned. Pours a very cloudy yellow with a half finger white head that leaves some thin wisps of lace as it slowly settles. 4

Smell is clove, banana, lime, and a hint of mint. 3.75

Taste follows banana, clove, clove, lime, and a tiny amount of mint. 3.75

Mouthfeel is bigger than average, subtle carbonation, a touch dry, and drinks bigger than 5.8% ABV. 4.25

Overall this is a very nice Saison, I could sipnthis from time to time. 3.75

From the 16 oz. can date 041819. Sampled on June 21, 2019.

The appearance is golden with a quick lasting white head and moderate clarity.

Inviting aromas of toasted bread, biscuit, lemon zest, clove, herbal notes, and Belgian yeast.

Light to medium body.

The taste highlights the herbal qualities more than anything else with a biscuity and sweetness under that. Dry finish. Overall, an above average Saison.

Can. Hazy golden pale orange with small island and a little lace, not great for a saison IMHO. Peppery bubblegum and fruity aroma and similar sweetness with apricot and very pitty fruity peppery hay long bitterness in dry finish. A little bit of a mess, but not an unpleasant mess. LIght lively body.

This batch seems better.

Canned 3/12/20
Pours a light fizzy white head with med-lower retention, a bit of lacing, slight hazy mostly clear golden straw color

Nose is nice, bright fruity esters, quite a bit of bubblegum, generic fruit a little tree fruit and lemony ctirus, and melony notes, floral phenols, lemongrass, doughy wheaty malt

Taste brings more of the bright fruity esters and bubblegum, fair bubblegum with some tree fruit, pear, apple, some lemony citrus again, into lemongrass and some floral phenols, more wheat-like doughy gristy malt notes, lemon zest and citrusy floral hops kick in with a med-light bitterness up front then a mild spicy zest med to a bit higher hop bitterness on the drier finish, lingering bitterness that gets a touch astringent

Mouth is med bod, a little soft wheat-like character, med-higher fizzy carb, touch astringent on the finish

Overall solid saison, hops may have been a bit too aggressive and brought a little astringency, but otherwise the yeast added some nice characters, and base malt was good, so enjoyable
