Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into a stemmed tulip glass.
Pours a cloudy amber color with a finger of creamy off-white head. The head has decent retention, leaving a crown of lacing before settling into a ghostly thin sheet.
The aroma brings notes of tart green apples, lemon zest, orange pith, and honey wheat bread. There's also some wood chips, grass, funk and faint vanilla. A bit muted but a great aroma for a tart saison.
The flavor is tart, fruity, and funky up front, bringing notes of green apples, lemon, grapefruit, orange, and grass. Then comes a wave of wheat bread. There's some faint oak and vanilla on the finish.
The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Creamy and smooth with a dry finish. Carbonation is a bit light for the style.
Overall, a great saison that is wonderfully tart and fruity with plenty of funk. The full flavor and heavier body sacrifices some drinkability, but this is still a very well-made beer.
