Named for an esteemed and one-of-a-kind veterinarian from Michigan, this rich and toasty dark lager has aromas of sweet bread and caramel with flavors of light coffee and marshmallow. The finish is full-bodied and malty.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 03/04/21 so 5 weeks.
A - Beautiful mahagony with some ruby tone, Excellent clarity, Carbonation is steadily feeding a lasting tight knit froth of off white.
S - Caramel, sweet brown sugar, light roast coffee. There is a slight hint of smoked malts as well
T - Caramelized sugars, in a good way, again threads of toffee, brown sweet bread, a hint of molasses, and roast hazelnut.
M - Medium in body, with all that caramel in the prior catagories the offering starts on the sweet side but mid palate shifts toward the dryer side, with a very elegant finish. Carbonation helps move things along.
O - A very good offering from Schilling, avoids the sweet dark side quite well.
A worthy domestic Dopplebock

Pours a light brownish color with ruby edges and a finger of head. The nose is bready and accented with some sweet maltiness. The bready and malty qualities translate into the flavor profile, but everything seems muted considering that it is a doppelbock. The body is also fairly thin for the style.
