Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Belmont, MA
Served in a Willi Becher

With a fairly aggressive pour, a fluffy, three-finger tall, bright white plume rose above the hazy, greenish-yellow body. The head slowly dropped to a bubbly, loosely held together crown. Frothy clumps of lacing stuck along the glass.

The aroma was really crisp and bright. A big, powdery yeasty quality dominated initially. As the head subsided, lemon and lime notes appeared. Bit of fresh cut grass. Hint of hoppy dankness too. Later, some floral notes came forth.

The flavor profile was super impressive. Big lime and lemon presence. Some rind-like pith and bitterness was also apparent. There was a big grassy hop presence as well. More lingering, pithy citrus rind on the back end and the finish.

Nice fluffy, lighter bodied mouthfeel. Crisp and slick on the palate. The liquid contained a larger bubbled bit fairly subdued effervescence.

Gemeinde may not be a traditional take on a Kellerbier, but it was fantastic nonetheless. The Southern Hemisphere hops give the beer a unique lemon-lime quality, along with some interesting floral and grassy notes. I would love to see this become a mainstay in the Schilling lineup.

Canned 5/25/20
Pours a large frothy foamy head with med retention, large bubbles, a touch of lacing, semi hazy semi clear straw golden color

Nose is nice, quite malty, a little grainy cereal, sweet, a bit of a gristy wheat dough like note, some fruity esters with a little lemon, and into lemongrass, into grassy floral noble hop aroma, little yeasty dough (all typical for a good Zwickelbier)

Taste is a bit malty again, gristy grainy doughy cereal mash, a touch of yeasty dough again, and more of that whole grain wheat dough, a little cereal, into mild hops, grassy floral noble hops with med-low bitterness, light fruity esters, generic fruity and lemongrass notes, no other real yeast additives, finishes a little sweet soft, a soft lager but not crisp which is typical of the style,

Mouth is lighter bod, med-higher fizzy foamy carb, mild soft lager

Overall a good Zwickelbier, def has a young beer character but no diacetyl or hot characters, a bit of fruity esters but in a good way, nice hop character that accentuates the dominant malty flavors and aromas, so well done for the style and enjoyability, which I've come to expect from Schilling
