500ml bottle, purchased at The Beer Temple on 7.25.15, poured into an Off Color cervoise.

The beer pours a nice, hazy and cloudy, golden copper color, apricot hues with a billowy, white, head, loose bubbles, striations of spotted lace. The aroma is nice, minerally chardonnay barrel, oak, funk, spice, yeasty esters, light stone fruits, pale grains, light alcohol, lots of complexity and nice balance. The flavors are nice, lots of complexity, strong mineral water, chardonnay, chewy oak, apricot fruitiness, berry esters, spice, grain, funk, all in a nicely presented and balanced package. The Brett definitely shines here, earthy, funky, musty, fruity, really well presented, though it does take away from some needed brightness. The mouthfeel is nice, really zippy, crisp, carbonation is moderate to high, coating, dry and prickly kick at the finish.

Verdict: A really nice Wild Ale from Green Bench, definitely reminiscent of the saison base, with just a nice light tartness and acidity. I wish it was a bit brighter and fruitier, but the Brett character is still really enjoyable. Definitely a really well worked beer that focuses on Brett and really gets a lot out of that lovely strain of yeast.

Thanks to Thomas & Jenny for sharing this one!

Bright gold with a fluffy layer of foam, sharp clarity and visible carbonation. Lasting surface coverage. Minerals and oak in the aroma, lightly citric and lemony.

Tangy Brett and light oak, minerally with a tangy aftertaste.
Light bodied, light tartness. Overall it's pretty good, somewhat Brett forward.

Pours cloudy and orange with a bombastic loose head that dissipates quickly. The aroma leads with Brett funk and lemon peel. Apricot and Chardonnay on the backend. Mouthfeel is light, and not as dry as I prefer.

375ml bottle.

Pours hazy gold with a massive, dense head of white. Solid foam and loads of tattered lacing throughout the glass. Pineapple, peach, apples, and funk in the nose. Light oak and Chardonnay undertones follow though. Light bodied with a crisp but creamy mouthfeel. Tropical fruit with light tartness starts the palate. Appleskins, peach fuzz, grape must, and vineous oak. Finishes dry but with a juicy backbone.

Great beer. A tropical east coast answer to Russian River's Temptation.

been sitting on this one a little bit, a wild saison aged in chardonnay barrels. tasty stuff, a bit darker and a bit stronger than a lot of them, some caramel color and malt weight to this, which being so mature and dry, i kind of like as a flavor and texture wrinkle. usually not a big fan of a deeper maltier saison type, but it works here really well. clearish pour until the bottom of the bottle, foaming puffy white head rising tall and lasting. strong wood and wine on the nose, light cider vinegar, caramelized barley malt, and champagne. its deep in flavor too, wheaty, spicy from the saison yeast, brett funky, sort of belgian fruity, cotton candy, new oak, wine tannins, white peach, golden raisin, and some floral leafy hops giving a green tea sort of bitterness to this too. lots of funk, less acidity but some, still a little of that flanders type vinegar, but very mild. dried cherry, chardonnay, rich oak, lemon zest, white pepper, even cedar wood somehow. very cool flavor complexion, but the beer is a little heavy and weird, and even though i cant taste the alcohol and it has fine carbonation, it sits big in my belly and i am forced to slow up a bit. this is probably in its peak right now, or just past it, and not something that has much evolving to do in the cellar, its already dry and extremely lively, if you have one, bust it out i would think! green bench has really impressed me with their wild stuff, and i am surprised these beers didnt do better and generate a little more excitement in the market here. weird packaging maybe partially to blame, but the wood labels look cool! i dug this one, and its definitely an original...
