Dark brew topped with a large dark tan head; excellent retention.

Huge coffee-forward, roasty aroma! This could be cold press coffee in a glass.

Flavor does not disappoint on that front: it's a coffee-forward brew, slightly roasty, and a touch sweet. Dark coffee is definitely the focus, with a slightly ashy finish. Creamy. Balanced without overwhelming bitterness or sweetness; restrained.

On the lighter side of the porter/stout spectrum; it's a smooth, medium mouthfeel overall. No heat. Very drinkable.

1L swingtop growler, split

Good name for a beer - probably a nod to the b&w film bearing the same name. Great looking beer with a huge chocolate cap. Sightglass coffee was used here and it's extremely potent and heavy handed. I really don't get much smoke, even as this warms to room temperature. Nice and roasty - a solid porter

650 mL bottle. Black body. Smells mostly of coffee, but it has a smokiness behind it. Not meaty, just a dry smokiness. Tastes of chocolate and coffee. Has just enough sweetness at the start, because it gets smokey and bitter in the back end. Medium body. I appreciate that it isn't super heavy or sweet. The name makes the beer sound disgusting, but it's good.
