Pours a very hazy straw yellow with a small head that quickly recedes to a ring of tight white bubbles on the glass. Aroma is interesting with strong berry notes and what I think at first is wood but more correctly put by cellarmaker as a toasted coconut note. Honey malt sweetness shines through a bit as well. On the palate I get the trademark cellarmaker pale ale malt profile, followed by bright fresh berry, melon, earthiness, and a resiny finish. Mouthfeel is super creamy for an IPA. Love the unique notes that this rare hop brings to an IPA.

Pretty standard super pale body Cellarmaker utilizes for most all of their hoppy beers - light haze, medium head. Nose bursts with sweet tropical fruit...passionfruit, ripe mango, sweet maize. Medium light body, good bitterness flavor, fruity and sweet...finishes dry. Tasty IPA, a very interesting and versatile hop!

From a bottle, 9 days after bottling.

Appearance: Golden straw-yellow, light haze, very pretty.

Smell: Blueberry pie. And oaky vanilla, and a bit of toasted coconut.

Taste: Like some sort of barrel-aged natural process Ethiopian coffee. Blueberry pie, froot loops, and toasted coconut. Definitely has some oaky woodiness too, though it's obviously never touched a barrel. Resiny, classic Cellarmaker finish.

Mouthfeel: Clean and pretty smooth, dry finish.

Overall: Fascinating beer. A good example of a rare hop shining with Cellarmaker's deft brewing hand.

Been trying to get my hands on this one for a while. Bottled 6/07/16.

Pours a light fizzy bubbly 1/2 finger head that fades at a fair pace, little lacing, hazy bright golden pale straw color.

Nose brings some of the dank tropical fruits but not as much as I expected, a little pineapple passion fruit, some melon rind, into a big generic fruity but berry aroma and almost strawberry, and a really interesting coconut and even some banana, very interesting hop characters, touch of a creamy malt seems to accentuate it.

Taste brings big juicy hops out front, again the really unique banana and coconut with pineapple like tropical fruits, some melon rind, bitter mango skin, back into a generic berry a weird blend of blueberry strawberry some tart boisonberry thing into a unique berry like one unique to some tropical island like guavaberry to St Maarten. Then a touch of a grassy taste in the background, floral as well, with a little dank musty passion fruit guava character, nice bitterness. Back end brings a touch of pine and earthy hops, turining quite bitter on the finish with a spicy hop character, a mild sweet malt in the center dries on the finish, with more tropical fruits lingering, banana coconut mango skin melon rind and guavaberry.

Mouth is med bod, nice carb.

Overall really unique and interesting IPA for sure. I can see the unique characters of the hops that were created in South Africa with the influence of local fruits, banana, coconut, mango, weird berry characters, and even a touch of pineapple, but then a little pine and musty characters that are in the nice level of flavor, and all balanced nicely with a touch of malts. Well done!

On-tap at TRB.

A: Pours a clear light golden with a greasy inch of dense white head that slowly faded to a foamy cap. Solid sheets of lace were left down the glass. Flawless.
S: I think I've only (knowingly) had southern passion hops in one other beer, but this beer smells like no other IPA I've ever smelled. I get straight blueberry and boysenberry with dank undertones. Blueberry is akin to the sweet canned pie filling, in a good way. The fragrance is noticeable from across the table.
T: Taste is dank and a little spicy and a little herbal. Maybe a touch of berry and pinesol in the finish. Different than the nose, which isn't necessarily a surprise. Clean malt backbone lets the hops shine. Slight crackery quality with low malt sweetness. Bitter aftertaste is an herbal slightly dank bitterness.
M: Clean body, crisp carbonation, soft carbonation, medium body, clean and bitter mouthfeel, low sweetness, finishes on the drier side.
O: One of the best smelling ipas I've come across in a while, although not my personal favorite flavor wise. Still flawless though, as usual from Cellarmaker.
