Stopped in here after City Beer Store since it is right around the corner. I had heard great things from the guys at TH so I was really looking forward to checking this place out. Atmosphere was quite good. Stopped in just after they opened and there was already plenty of people around the bar area and at the tables. Service was great. Bartenders were awesome, we never had to wait more than a minute or two for a new beer. Quality was top notch across the board. Selection was great. 10 beers on, two kicked, and one leftover cask from the night before. My favorite was Jezebel and the cask, both of which were awesome. No food so no rating there. Prices were a little high for my tastes, we were only getting the 5oz pours and some were $4 a piece. It was almost $30 to try them all. Overall an awesome brewpub in the heart of the city. I would be a regular here if I lived in the area.

Beyond the fantastic punny beer names, strong house style shows consistency in clean pure expression beers. Do not miss this place.

For those looking for the next great thing! They are already there...

Atmosphere: Small place and pretty plan. Neat deco and relatively simple. They stay pretty busy and have music at a decent level. Fun place but not my favorite hang out as far as breweries go.

Quality: Every beer I tried here was good, especially when compared to others of its style. Overall its tough to find a place that puts out better quality across the boards.

Service: Even when it was very busy and only two bartenders working they kept everyone served and continued to fill growlers.

Selection: not the largest number of taps of the widest variety of styles, but they had some pretty good variety and really fast turn over while I spread my visits out over a week.

Overall: in SF this is probably my number one recommended stop. I can see arguments for others but in terms of getting the best beer and best vibe this is the place. I had a ton of great ipas, some great dark beers and was certainly happy with everything I had

I visited Cellarmaker last night and the place was absolutely jumping. The beers turned out to justify this; I had the kettle sour and the saison and they were totally outstanding. The Vienna lager was less so, but the greatness of the other beers totally outweighed this. There were 12 beers available when I visited; I would like to someday be able to try more of their beers. Standing-room-only crowds made the place hard to get around, but service at the bar was shockingly quick and efficient. Absolutely worth a visit!

They let me in, and I don't even have a beard. (I guess that not shaving for a couple days counts.)

They do do some crowd control, which is nice. That kind of thing has the potential to irk me, but I don't need a seat, just elbow room. Good enough.

Noise is moderate for the type of establishment, although the crowd that was there at the bar last Sunday night seemed like mostly introverted strangers. Anyways, the beer is pretty good, and that's what matters. (Not like I knew anyone in there, myself.)

The beer selection was pretty good, but the food... potato chips and beef jerky. They do try to nudge one toward the local eateries, and that probably is for the best.

Located in SOMA, off Howard – Cellarmaker doesn’t have a lot of signage up and if you don’t pay attention, you could pass by it on accident. Once inside there’s a small tasting room that features about six house selections. Cellarmaker tends to focus on hoppier beers, though their stouts and porters are also quite tasty. The staff is pretty attentive and service is quick. Downside is the tasting room is small and usually packed, meaning seating can be a challenge.

Excellent IPAs, killer stouts and a nice location. Some staff (some...) have lost their friendly charm but such is the life of a bartender at a really popular brewery.

It's kind of a bummer this place has gotten so popular so fast. Used to be a lot of casual conversations and really fun folks; now it's a lot of 'I know more than you' beards. At least the beers are still great; just don't stop in for a growler fill during any kind of release. You'll be waiting in line a really, really long time.

If you're in SF from out-of-town, well worth the visit. Come thirsty!
