As malty and sweet as an Oktoberfest.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a bit brighter than the normal "amber/red ale" that I'm used to seeing. Still a nice soft finger's worth of white foamy head slid off at a nice pace to leave some light speckled lace running here and there.
The aroma softened with a nice balance of sweet caramel/toffee malts to a quaint semi-sweet citrus to piney hops accompanying an ever so slight earthiness coming in underneath.
The flavor was a nice balance between all of the previously mentioned aromas to adequately follow through as I expected on into the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps a touch under with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt on par. Finished with a nice smooth clean maltiness.
Overall, as an amber ale, it works and would be one I'd have again.

A: crystal clear; amber colored; 1 finger khaki head that receded to a wispy cap; OK lacing;

S: sweet malt, a little nutty, a little caramel;

T: follows the nose from start to finish; mild bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: easy drinking; drier finish that most ambers;

Pours a hazy orange-hued amber with a one finger cream colored head that dissipates to a sudsy layer fairly quickly. Moderate lacing and carbonation. Malts, caramel, and molasses dominate the smell, with hints of maple, brown bread, and honey. As prior reviewers have noted, the taste largely follows the smell, but is drier than expected, with a hint of stone fruit. Medium bodied, with a somewhat sour and astringent finish.

Orange brown color and very cloudy. Off white, moderate head which leaves some chunky spots and streaks.

Lots of caramel sweetness to the nose. There's a touch of alcohol in the background. Nearly no hop aromas.

The taste mimics the smell. Caramel flavor, though drier than the smell suggests. The taste leans toward "brown", meaning there are toasted bread notes. There's also more hop to the taste, but this is still a very malty beer, bordering on a Scotch Ale in terms of flavor. Full bodied with a diminished carbonation level.

Toasted chestnut colored with an off-white head of foam that lingers long. Low aroma of caramel and biscuity malt. Malty flavors upfront, toffee and caramel and biscuit, but not overly rich or complex. Moderate bitterness, but no hop flavor. There's an odd flavor in the finish that's hard to pinpoint, slightly metallic. An herbal bitterness lingers. Moderate carbonation, even mouthfeel. I like this one a lot, but wish I could say I loved it. It feel off a bit for me as it warmed and lingered.

This is not a pale ale, but an amber ale. Super, super malty, you get almost no hop taste until the very end. Honestly I love Berkshire, and namely Lost Sailor, but this one fell a bit short. It has such a dark malty body, it almost gives you that bitter taste like a porter/stout would.
