Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a ruddy burnt orange to brown color with a solid sustaining finger’s worth of off white foamy head. The head must last for a good minute before gently dissipating and creating some light speckled lace. The aroma starts off with some sweet to spicy estery fruit flowing upon rich caramel and toffee malts. Some grassy notes. Clean earthy and spicy hops beat feet upon those malts to add a little bit of zing. Sly herbal notes underneath and then a little bit of chocolate. The flavor balances very nicely between the sweet to spicy to fruity and caramel/toffee blended flow all combining extremely nice and right on into the aftertaste and on into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable flow smoothing out on my tongue. The use of the malts in this beer really helped smooth out some of that "zing" I smelled in the aroma as it doesn’t let in any cloying features but just really feels absolutely wonderful. Overall, an English pale ale with a little beef. Feels just a tad heavier than some others of it’s style, perhaps the chocolate in it, but if anything for a medium ABV-ed beer, it’s heartier than expected and definitely could still go with some fish n’chips.

A: slight haze; deep bronze in color; 1 finger khaki head that receded to a thin cap; very nice lacing;

S: sweet malt; there's a tang to this that I wasn't expecting;

T: follows the nose - sweet malt with a little tang; virtually no bitterness; a little nutmeg in the aftertaste;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; lightly dry finish;

O: can't get past the tang in the flavor;

Shaker pint fill today at the Nashua Garden, $3.00 during Happy Hour...

Pours a deep, cloudy chestnut color. Head is thin and sparse, mostly some tan foam clinging to the edges. Lacing is decent, for the most part. Smell is exceedingly mild, with subtle caramel and fruity hops detected. It is quite smooth but a bit thinner than medium.

Flavor has a touch of caramel and light sweetness at first. From there it gets a touch fruity, with some pear and green apple. Ends on the dry side with some bitter, floral hopping. Not overly impressed; was expecting a much maltier, sweeter, warming bier. Prosit!

After cracking open this 22oz bottle of Berkshire Brewing Company Cabin Fever Ale, I poured it straight into a Samuel Adams 22oz Perfect Pint Glass. A big foamy brown head formed rising from the blue line on the glass, making for an excellent presentation when combined with this beer's spectacular hazy copper color.

Pouring straight into the glass agitated this beer quite well revealing a well balanced aroma of malt, fruity esters resembling green apple and cherry; the nose is finished off with a strong aroma of spicy and herbal hops. A very intriguing combination.

This beer's heavy malt back bone becomes apparent upon the first sip. "Bready" malt flavors are followed by an earthy hop characteristic. The flavors of this beer are quite simple, but well balanced. A lingering sweetness is followed by a nice hop bitterness. The sweetness of the malt plays well with the hops, if this beer was not well-hopped it may be sickly sweet. A good job done by BBC here.

I enjoyed this beer with great delight. I'm sad to see it's winter seasonal, however I can see the logic here. The malt characteristic was fortifying after coming home from a cold commute. This beer upholds many English brewing traditions; a nice balance of malt and earthy hops. With so many breweries pushing towards extremes it's nice to a see a simple beer well-balanced brew on the shelves.
