This rich, dark ale takes BBC’s popular Drayman’s Porter and adds Dean’s Beans organic coffee to the mix, creating an enticing blend of everyone’s favorite beginning and end of day beverages. Robust and aromatic, Coffeehouse Porter is sure to please, no matter what time of day you choose to enjoy it.

Pours from the bomber a deep dark brown, bordering on black with a nice creamy, bubbly one inch head. Only a glimmer of light is allowed to pass through this one. Nice. Aromas of fresh roasted coffee, like that first whif you get as you open the bag of bean, float up into my nose. Roasty, chocolate undertones mingle with a slightly creamy smokiness. Chocolate covered espresso bean goodness in a glass.

First sip is interwoven tapestry of roasted ground coffee and chocolate flavors. Dark malts abound with a slightly smoky undertone. Bitter coffee on the way down with just a slight hint of hops. A tad bit chalky on the finish, overall a well built porter with a lovely coffee tones and a good balance.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slick with an active carbonation. A notch down on the carbonation would make this smoother. I find myself finishing this bomber quite rapidly...a tasty porter for those who enjoy coffee as well. Definetly one worth looking into. Thanks to MuddyFeet for this one.

Porter
Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a dark brown color with a small head of tan colored foam. The head has a good level of retention, adding slowly over time and leaving a good level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is a nice mix of brown bread and cocoa, with notes of coffee and caramel. Along with these smells comes a bit of molasses and nut, as well as a little bit of brown sugar and crème.
Taste – The taste starts with a brown bread and lightly toasted doughy smell mixed with a decent showing of nuttiness as well as a good showing of molasses and brown sugar. The coffee is rather light for a coffee porter, with it just being a very subtle flavor in the background throughout the taste. Toward the end of the flavor profile the sweet and the coffee increase a bit, and with a touch of milk and crème, one is left with a moderately roasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium to slightly thicker with a lower carbonation level. For the dark nature of the brew the feel is good and makes for an easy sipper.
Overall - A decent porter overall. Would have liked a bit more coffee, but all in all, rather tasty.

This coffeehouse porter looks and smells exactly like you think it would. It's a dark brown with an off white head and a full body aroma of coffee. The taste is closer to a dry stout with coffee and sweetness on the back end. It's not bad, but tastes differently than the smell would suggest.

Pour is deep, deep brown bordering black with a finger of mocha colored head with excellent retention. Aroma is really nice, with plenty of roasted malts and some chocolate. Coffee definitely takes the lead on the tongue, followed by plenty of roasted malts and a little bit of chocolate. Feel is thin-ish but with a decent amount of carbonation.

Overall good beer.

One of my favorite beers from Berkshire. As you would expect, there is a nice amount of coffee, both in aroma and taste, and the rest is pretty close to their regular porter. The only downside for me is that it is thin. If they could improve the body, this would be a great beer. As is, it is still quite good.

Coffeehouse Porter (2021) from Berkshire. Received from @Roy_Hobbs in BIF #14. 16 oz can. Stored at home at 38 degrees. Reviewed 2/12/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Can stamped on bottom “BORN ON 8/16/21”. Served at 44.2 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 53.4 degrees.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Deep Amber (SRM 15), clear.
Body – Brown (SRM 30), opaque. When rear-lite, some light penetration at the edges, reddish.
Head – Average (Maximum 1.8 cm, aggressive center pour), wheat, diminishing to a two to three mm crown fed by effervescence and a thin complete cap with rocks.
Lacing – Good. Irregular ring of extremely tiny bubbles which eventually evolves into torn curtains.
Aroma – 3 – Initially roasted chocolate malt, no hops, no yeast. Weak coffee.
Flavor – 3.5 – Taste follows the nose but slightly bitter, no hops, no yeast. No ethanol (6.2 % ABV, according to website, NOT marked on container) taste or aroma. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Thin, watery, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 Unremarkable appearance – looks like every other porter. Both nose and taste are mostly coffee, little porter. If not for the carbonation, I wouldn’t have suspected this was anything but coffee.
