Ah here's a beer from yesteryear. I don't remember, did James bring these or was it an extra from a trade? Irrelevant I suppose. Pours a dark brown color with a thin 1/3" lighter brown head and better than average retention, especially given the coffee and oils and shit. Average coffee aroma, not massive, not miniscule, just right down the middle.

Taste is pretty good, standard American porter base here, its got plenty of roasted malt and what seems like a good 50ibu amount of Cascade/C hop hopping going into it. Carbonation appropriate, drinks easy enough if you like roasted malt without excess getting in the way. Viscosity is average to slightly below average. Its pretty good stuff, but I dunno in the bomber format, prolly would not purchase, but I'd give a 6 pack of this another run if it was around $10.

Pours a dark bold black with small amount of head. Smells of coffee but not very robust. Taste is a little disappointing but does hit on the coffee flavor quite nicely. Smooth mouthfeel with very little carbonation. Easy to drink and tasty at that. Will be buying this again in the future. Cheers!

Pours a dark chocolate color with a pillowy brown head. Good retention.

The aroma is of brown bread, coffee and chocolate. More chocolate than coffee.

The taste is more of a latte than coffee grounds. Chocolate milk and dark chocolate. Brown bread and wet wood earthiness. Doesn't scream coffee.

The feel is well bodied with tingly carbonation. Sweet, almost sticky, on the palate. Has an earthy bitter finish.

A tasty beer but not really coffee forward. More like an earthy brown ale.

a: it is a solid matte black color, like the black night. tan head that pours 2 fingers but reduces down to a film pretty rapidly

s: strong fresh roasted coffee flavor upfront, roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate, and a touch of oak (though i know there was no barrel here)

t: roasted malts, dark chocolate, and bitter coffee beans upfront. there is a light malt sweetness behind that along with some cola. this finish on this is more coffee & dark chocolate. there is a mild lingering bitterness left on the back of the tongue provided by a combination of the coffee & roasted malts

m: low-medium mouthfeel with a strong carbonation presence. mouthfeel works well here

o: this is a really solid beer here. a fine porter as a base, and the addition of coffee really kicks this up a notch. if you like coffee beers you should enjoy this

The appearance is a dark brown/black body with a two finger foamy white head rises and gently subsides leaving some nice lightly foamy clingy lacing that eventually spider webs a bit. The smell has espresso coffee, light chocolate, and some vanilla comes out as the beer warms. The taste is bittersweet through the coffee and chocolate, vanilla is way more subdued with a malty aftertaste. The palate is about a medium to heavy, shows a rich and smooth, sticky sweet finish, not as sessionable - good sipper. Overall, this is probably one of the heavier porters out there. I still liked it, coffee forward - yes, but also has some nice complexities that come out to play.

Pours a mildly hazy dark brown with a robust light tan head that leaves patchy lacing on the glass. Classic combination of coffee/baker's chocolate both on the nose and the tongue, with a nice malty smokiness to balance the flavors. The mouthfeel falls a little short on this one: it's almost watery and definitely overly carbonated, but at least it has a smooth finish.
