On-tap at the brewery. Served in a tulip. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a light golden or deep straw color with a very soft, delicate, light tan film. A fine sheet of lace was left down the glass.
S: Ginger really shines and dominates. There's also a lightly tart scent, and a hint of golden fruits and earthy, buttery, oak.
T: Really really interesting and unique golden sour profile with a kiss of sweet and spicy ginger. The golden base is light and flavored with stone fruits and earthy straw, and it is slightly sweet. This is balanced well with a sharp tart bite and tingly ginger root herbalness. Oak tannins and ginger cling to my throat after I swallow. Ginger lingers a long with some faint buttery oak.
M: Very dry mouth, dry from the oak and dry and crisp from the ginger. Fizzy carbonation froths up on the palate and is soda-like but much softer. Very scrubbing and refreshing. Like a tart, less sweet, deeper, richer, and more complex fresh ginger ale. Super dry, needed water to drink.
O: Never had another beer like this. Ginger is bright and flavorful but not overpowering. Very balanced and complex. Extremely well executed. Very airy, tart, dry, crisp, and refreshing mouthfeel.

Rare Barrel continues to simply rock the beer world. I'm sorry that more people that try it don't give full reviews (myself included) because the beers, almost all of them, are generally outstanding and consistently outstanding, Breakfast Time among them.

This one is a golden sour with ginger and it is exactly what you want it to be. Perfectly balanced; just the right amount of spice and ginger in the nose with perfect balance in the mouth and lots of fresh, bright, and almost tangy/spicy ginger in the mouth.

Rare Barrel may be one of only a handful of American breweries doing world class beers. This one, among all of them, is very worth a try.

On tap at Apex. Lightly hazy gold with a thin white head, sour ginger on the nose ...strange but not bad. Sour orchard fruits with earthy ginger and a touch of vinegar. Good stuff.
