Possibly the best beer Rare Barrel has made. Smells and tastes like a juicy, crushable, Pinot Noir. Ridiculously balanced and interesting.

750 ml bottle poured into small tulip. Slightly hazy with an orangish glow more than the golden color I expected. Paper thin head with no lacing left. No overpowering smell just a hint of peach and orange. More sour than tart on this one and it works well with the big bold flavors. Really my favorite offering from them so far.

750ml bottle into Ambassador stemware.
A: Pours a fairly clear apricot color with a very short lived fizzy white head.
S: Juicy citrus, orange zest, apricot, musty and bright funk, with a touch of earthy barrel and floral rose. Bright citrus and clean tart lactic acid.
T: Orange rind, apricot, spicy yeast, rose, and sweet stone fruits. Orange is juicy and citrusy, but I'm getting a lot of apricot pie and spice as well. Slight peach, musty and dry barrel, spicy yeast, sweet fruits very juicy bright lactic acid. Aftertaste is sweet, citrusy, and lingering spice.
M: Medium body, very juicy and delicious. Not super drying, clean and crisp carbonation. Nice oaky greasiness.
O: Very good. Juicy and super fruity with a nice amount of grease.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2014 vintage bottling. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, cranberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, rose, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, and bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leather, musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, rose hips, orange peel, oak, and pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, cranberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, rose, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, and bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leather, musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness; light fruit tang, and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, cranberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, rose, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, bread, pepper, light leather/funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, rose hips, orange peel, oak, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness balance. Lightly increasing pucker through the glass, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and oak tannins. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy/acidic, and fairly crisp/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a fantastic fruited sour ale. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, rose hips, orange peel, oak, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on; despite the increasingly puckering/acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Outstanding balance of Brett/Bacteria complexity, rose hips, orange peel, and oak barrels; with solid pale/wheat malts against acidity. A highly enjoyable offering, and well made sour as expected.
