Notes:
Another World is a red sour beer aged in oak barrels. Fermented with two strains of Brettanomyces yeast and two strains of Lactobacillus bacteria, this red sour presents notes of cherries and caramel. Inside of this beer, there exits another world. A world ruled entirely by yeast and bacteria. This dichotomous world ruled survives and thrives through constant cooperation and competition.

Thanks to eyebereej for sending this one! Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 750 mL bottle into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.
A: Pours a ruddy brown. Moderately hazy, with a good level of visible carbonation. A thin white head quickly downgrades to fluffy white patches.
S: Mixed acetic and lactic sourness and sour cherries. Some woody dryness. A horse blanket funk with a good bit of feet and cheese as well. More sour lactic acid. Some lightly toasted malts are there if you look for them, but they're snowed under the sour flavors. Very nice and complex.
T: Puckeringly sour up front – more lactic acid, but some acetic as well. Sour cherries and dry oak tannins. Sour lemony citric acid. Passingly fleet flavors of light bready malts, but they disappear quickly. More wood, mild vinous, and mildly funky. More acetic acidic sourness swells up right before the swallow, and it finishes with some drying sourness – like more underripe berries - and acid.
M: A medium to a bit light body, and a low level to almost disappearing carbonation sensation. Minimal alcohol burn.
O: I am really digging this one. Some serious sourness, though it's not terribly funky. An enamel-stripping sourness, but it has enough other flavors to make it work. Not a beginner’s sour...there's a good bit of pure acetic tang...but I think pretty damn tasty.

Large shared bottle.
Moderate to high tartness.
Very good feel with lively, medium-high carbonation.
Good example of a sour that tastes way better than it smells.

Poured into a teku - appearance is a nice clear brown with hints of ruby coming through the edges. The head is off-white and quickly fizzes away to nothing. The aroma is tart cherries, a touch of sweetness and oak. The first sip is puckering-ly sour, with tart cherries, amber and caramel malts, good Brett notes and some oak. The finish is slightly drying, but the feel as a whole is smooth, with good body. Overall, another winner from the Rare Barrel.

Had at the tasting room in Berkeley. Smells amazing with an acetic character with sour cherries even though no cherries are added to this beer. Tastes fabulous with a noticeable oak and slight vanilla character. Maybe a touch of char or even light cocoa from the wood. Very refreshing and tart, crisp, and easily drinkable. Nicely done!

750ml bottle into TRB tulip. 2015 release.
A: Pours a clear ruby iced-tea color with a couple fingers of very active light tan head that quickly fizzed away into a faint collar.
S: Tart red fruit notes on the nose with scents of dried cranberries and cherries mixed with hints of currents and raspberries. I get a touch of caramel and musty basement as well. Lactic acidity is bright and clean smelling.
T: Smooth flavors of caramel, currents, and raspberry, with hints of leather and buttery oak in the finish. The acidity is smooth and well-rounded without any harshness. A touch of greasy caramel and sweet fruit juice linger in the aftertaste, and there is a hint of doughy brett throughout.
M: Medium body, soft and creamy mouthfeel from a combination of smooth tartness and fluffy carbonation.
O: Drinks extremely well. I was worried the acidity would be too biting, but this was a pleasure to drink. Flavors are light and . Overall a very clean and easy beer.

Big thanks to tbadiuk for the bottle.
Pours a nice clear, reddish-light brown in color with a short, fizzy off-white head that falls quickly leaving no lacing. The nose starts with nice tart, Brett punch, sweet cherries, oak, leather; really nice. The taste is also nicely tart, acid (balsamic?), sweet cherries, oak. Medium body and nice carbonation keep this tart sour ale easily drinkable. This is a great Flanders Red-esque ale with excellent balance of tart sour notes with residual sweetness.

Thanks to mrbubbler for sharing this one at his tasting.
2015 vintage. Blend No. 022.
Pours a murky dark orange-brown with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is sour with grain, fruit, acidic, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with sour fruit, acidic, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty, but the sour qualities are slightly better in the smell to me.
