750ml bottle into snifter. 2015 bottle.

A: Pours clear golden with a thin short-lived white head that fizzed away into nothing; no lace.
S: Clean, bright lactic acid, over scents of golden fruits mixed with a kiss of peppery spice and vanilla and subtle agave.
T: Follows the nose with clean and crisp flavors. No one quality stands out, and overall flavors are light and easy. I get flavors of tequila, vanilla, pepper spice, and a touch of golden fruit, stone fruit, and bright lemon zest. Apple juice flavors in the finish, stone fruit and vanilla linger in the aftertaste.
M: Medium-light body, creamy and soft carbonation, chewy mouthfeel with a drying finish. Lactic acid is light and adds a nice lemony tart quality to the flavor without any harsh acidity.
O: Very light, clean, and easy to drink with mellow flavors of tequila barrel, soft carbonation, and low acidity.

This one pours a mostly clear light yellow, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells quite strongly of tequila, with lemon/lime acidity, and slight funk.

This is a bit too strong on the tequila for my personal tastes, but it's still pretty well done. There's lots of sour lime and sour lemon, with just a hint of spiky funk on the finish. I wish there was a bit more oak, and less of an emphasis on the tequila- it's slightly overwhelming.

This is crisp and fairly clean, with a light body, and a normal level of carbonation.

This isn't my favorite, but I'm sure other people would like it more.

Consumed 5/7/17 (pulled out of the cellar for Cinco de Mayo and missed it, oops)

Split with Goblinmunkey

A: Medium gold - hazy - pours with a small white head, fades to nothing - more or less looks identical to every Rare Barrel beer I have had

S: Sharp, bright sourness - straight-up acidity, perhaps some lemon and lime acid - some lactic sour and damp funk - some light fruit, apples - distinct aroma of tequila - wood and some barrel funk - some solvent-like, vaguely rubbery smells, but mostly clean

T: Slightly less tooth enamel-melting sour than the typical beer from this brewery, but still very, very sour - sharp acid - some bright acidity, lemon-like at times - funky, with some barrel funk and lactic flavors - some damp Brett, with some light fruit - hints of apples, pears - tequila, but perhaps not as much as in the aroma - woody, more barrel - light sweetness, hints of pale malts

M: Medium body, puckering sour, little to no carbonation, finishes with acid

O: No salt? What is this, a reverse Gose?

This marks the fifth Rare Barrel beer I've reviewed on BA. My conclusion is that all of these golden sours basically taste the same, with some additional ingredients added on top. It's as if they produce a vanilla ice cream, and each variant has a different topping (fruit, cinnamon... tequila). I'm not really complaining, but it's very interesting. I actually liked No Salt a lot and would seek it out if it was brewed again.

Definitely a different offering from TRB...the tequila barrels temper the typical acidic biting flavor and aroma of their golden sours. Nice nose of slight tart lemon, mild wood and is quite clean. Smooth flavor, again light acidity, a very mild undertone of rich oak smokiness...interesting but delicious.

Golden color, clarity isn't something it has going for itself, but a nice white head on the top is enjoyable.

Aroma was definitely tequila leaning, the agave, the salinity (even if the name of the beer says otherwise).

Taste is similar, this is definitely something to try out with your friends big into tequila, and yet, I loathe tequila but still enjoyed this beer very much.

$25 price tag is a little steep though. The sour and tart levels are dialed in nicely (6 on a 1-10 scale) its not overly acidic or harsh. Good wood presence. What little acidity there is relatively still conveys nice lemon and lime flavors.

Tart! Typical soured golden ale. Lacto, stone fruits, oak and sweet tarts. Hint of brett funkiness and an underlying fruitiness from the tequila. Not overwhelmingly sour, hits you up front and mellows out. Slick. Lower carb. Pretty good.
