this brown ale could still alone by it selfs but when you add in it is 4.5 abv and so it is in class all by itself.
L: is deep brown but clear, the heads fades quickly and leaves little to know lacing
S: 1st is coffee then followed by some nice roasted notes
T: is chesnut and sweetness followed by coffee with some bitterness from the roast malts.
F: is little thin and one note but find this hard to rate as bigger brown ale I would ding it but at 4.5 abv im amazed at the body that is there.
Overall this is beer I was glad I got in a local box and whish I could have a 12 pack on hand to crush to start the night off

Very close to the English brew called "bitter" I enjoyed while in England visiting the local pubs.......WAY before the American craft beer revolution...Get it!?

Pours a nice dark brown cola color. nutty coffee aroma. taste weak coffee with a slight nutty caramel chocolate. Full body feel. I wouldn't call this a brown. more of a stout or a porter, because of the coffee flavor. I don't like coffee, but if you do this would be a great beer for you to try.

Now this is a great brown ale. Perfect representation of the style. Here goes:
A: Dark brown; perfectly opaque. Nice, lingering head but surprisingly there isn't much lacing. 4/5
S: Beautiful. Toffee, caramel, lots of milk chocolate as well (surprising for a brown ale), English yeast and some mild English hops. Overall, the malt comprises the strongest presence. 4.75/5.00
T: Luckily the taste followed the nose. Toffee and caramel notes were apparent, however the beer had a great helping of sweet chocolate. Add to this brown sugar and nutmeg and you have a great beer. Some baker's yeast as well. Been a while since I had a brown ale this good. 4.75/5.00
M: Very good. Feels a lot more alcoholic than it actually is given the rich malt backbone. 4.5/5.0
O: Great representation of the style, best I've had in a long time. 4.6/5.0
