This is definitely for those who love vanilla in their beer. You won't be disappointed. The nose is pretty much all vanilla. And the flavor is as well with some chocolate notes. Smooth and sweet, it is a wonderful dessert beer.

Pours a deep tawny brown with a creamy light tan colored one finger head atop.Vanilla stands out most in the nose with some caramel as well, not much roast and or drying notes.Sweet but not quite cloying on the palate with a somewhat slick feel. Not bad, more of a dessert kinda beer.

Had this on 2018-09-27 in Columbia, PA from a 22oz bottle

A - Opaque brown with almost no head after the initial, aggressive pour.

S - Graham cracker and vanilla wafers.

T - Medium roasted grain, mint, more vanilla, milk chocolate and maybe a hint of char but this is subsumed into the sweetness of the graham cracker and vanilla.

M - Very high carbonation (too much) and light-medium body. So carbonated it is not pleasant to drink.

O - Can't get behind this one. Too sweet and WAY to carbonated. Hopefully, it was just this particular bottle that was so spritzy.

Growler from Bestway in Greensboro, NC

A: Pours a clear almost opaque very dark brown in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and some reddish brown highlights. The beer has a half finger tall foamy beige head that reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of vanilla with a light amount of something slightly artificial and a hint of roasted malts.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of very lightly roasted malts with some moderate flavors of artificial vanilla extract.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin.

O: This beer sounds really great in description but unfortunately the vanilla tastes artificial and hints of iodine make this one a little less enjoyable than it could have been. Not sure I would grab another one of these but glad that I was able to check out this newer brewery.

L: Had this beer on-tap at Double Barley, poured into a pint glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. there was a thin, tan-colored, somewhat long-lasting head. Not much lacing.

S: A very nice aroma of vanilla, malt, chocolate, and a little molasses.

T: Tasted of a good amount of chocolate, some roasted malt (mostly in the finish), a whole mess of vanilla (quite dominant), and a tinge of molasses. Well, they got the name right for this one. The vanilla definitely has a starring role, but the other ingredients do a good job of supporting it. Sweet and likable.

F: An average amount of carbonation with a super smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: You could dismiss this as a one trick pony of a beer, but somehow it works. Drinkable.

I thought this beer was good but the vanilla was a bit strong.

Thanks to CJTman for this extra as part of a great recent trade. Thrilla!

The pour is a pretty dark brown, & darn cold out of the fridge. The nose is a ringer for Spearmint Gum, which I haven’t chewed in twenty five years, but the memory is closer than my little finger. Plus vanilla. Yeah, vanilla. I said it.

Thrilla in Vanilla - Rolling in Mint! Peppermint, chocolate mint, curly spearmint, mint mint comes in waves amidst every type of mint ever imagined in the bowels of Whole Foods. Bit of vanilla, sweet malt comes through in the middle, but that’s it. I’m looking at half the bottle & wondering if I can get through this.

Under phrases I never thought I’d utter, “mint bomb” is one of them, but this is like a mint IV followed by a six course mint enema. Weird through & through, but if there are any mint fiends out there, jump all over this train.

Turns an Anderson Valley Can Glass dark brown (SRM 22). Tiny streaming carbonation is visible within this clear beer while a half-inch, creamy manila head dwells above for a long time.

The aroma clearly showcased vanilla while cocoa nibs are a secondary player. Oddly there is also an aroma of disinfectant, but not much else.

Quite sweet, again with prominent vanilla dominating over all other flavors. Perhaps they overdosed on vanilla extract. There is an astringent aftertaste that might include chocolate as it lingers.

A light to medium body with a watery texture and fizzy carbonation. Alcohol is as expected. There is a light metallic nature as well.
As a beer, this was disappointing. As a virtual experience, it made for a nice exercise in thought.

On tap while getting hair cut at Alter Ego December 2014. Sadly, I missed out on that experience, but I did take a little vacation in my head while enjoying this beer.

1 pt 6 fl oz bomber poured into a Guinness style pint glass.

A -Black, with brown highlights. A one finger head that maintains for a bit before moving to a thin lace.

S - Vanilla, some spice like component, cocoa.

T - Cocoa krispies esque. Vanilla, some underlying smoke, grains. Cola.

M- Carbonation a schoche near medium-low. Gets a little sticky when it warms.

O - Had this on tap previously and I believe it had some more depth. From the bottle, it is still worth giving it a run, unless you have a vanilla aversion.

Tasted on draught in Goldsboro, NC. Head was nonexistent and carbonation seemed weak, perhaps a tap line problem and not the beer. Aroma was a nice mix of porter-type malt smells and vanilla. Flavor was enjoyable and clean, but I thought the vanilla was heavy handed, without the expected porter roasted notes to balance it. For me the result was an overly sweet impression.
