BBD of 27.11.2016. Poured into a Spiegelau tulip. ABV is listed as 7,10% here, but the bottle states 8,4%. New design, new ABV! First time reviewing it; hopefully, it is as good as I remember.

Clear deep copper/light brown with a thick, off-white head left behind little lacing. Aromas are very fresh: mango and floral come to mind most. Some additional sweet notes of pineapple and tangerine/orange. Taste is mucho mango! Sweet upfront, with just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A pretty complex IPA, as the sweetness interacts with the bitterness in just the right way throughout. Both are never lost to the other and they complement each other's presence perfectly. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation.
Overall, a great IPA, period. No need to even caveat this one as a great 'German' IPA.

I quaffed some of this at Cafe Abseits in Bamberg, most recently on 27SEP14. A 0.33l bottle cost me €4.50.

It was a cloudy amber-mahogany, wearing a rich, creamy tan hat. The head lasted well, lingering mostly at the rim, and left some nice lace. Nose was very citrussy, pithy and rindy, with some tropical fruit also present. It felt creamy on the tongue with only light prickle, though the body was a touch less than medium.

Had lots of bitterness, with grapefruit, some mango, and loads of pithyness present. A touch of a biscuity sweetness lurked, though it was mostly all hop bitterness. The rindy quality lingered long in the dry finish. Pretty good, all in all. Prosit!!

Picked this up at a great beer shop in Darmstadt, Germany, Maruhn Welt der Getränke. Slightly hazy copper-amber pour with a two finger beige head with decent retention and great lacing. The nose is well balanced with hints of pine, caramel, brown sugar, tangerine, and toffee. The taste follows suit with sweet caramel malt and bitter piney hops equally prevalent. Hints of biscuit, brown sugar, toffee, tangerine, orange zest, and subtle grapefruit. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, thick and chewy, with a nice bitter, oily finish. Overall, a bit different from most of the German craft IPA's I've had so far. Definitely will revisit.

Appearance: Deep dark amber, almost burnt orange under a vanilla colored white head.

Aroma; Lots of c-hops, grapefruit, melons...the usual, and it's strong, wonderful with a nice bit of caramel lurking behind, and a hint of alcohol wafting over it.

Flavor:
Front: Nice bite of bitterness, not Noble but US Amarillo bitterness. Sweet fruity mango, melons, grapefruit, tartness and a layer of super sweet sugar flavor. Yum! Wow.

Mid: More mangos, melon, grapefruit, again, heavy but not overbearing bitterness if Amarillo, and here comes the caramel malts, a decent heavy sweetness of Münchner malts combined with crystals, and then an undertone of yeastiness to show off its bottle conditioned aspect and freshness. IBUS - 66 & 7.1% abv.

Back: Lots more bitterness here but again at a comfy level, & even more caramel malt sweetness. Some tartness also present, and los of mango, etc. too.

Aftertaste: Bittersweet, the hops linger as does a sweetness.

Mouthfeel: thick and creamy like a Münchner beer or Märzen with a dry finish.

Overall: Wow beer. Really, it's got C-hop fruitiness galor, above average bitterness that lets you know it's there bit doesn't move in and overstay its welcome. But what I like the most is the balance of malts, caramel is strong enough to almost be a Märzen but not full slap your face and drown in it. It's an incredibly malt/hop balance that not enough American IPAs reach. This gives it a delicious complexity, and no flavor range overpowers any other… that keeps you coming back for more and more. A WOW WOW beer. Outside of Cissy IPA (how can one compete, Rauchmalz & Märzen, C & NZ hops!), the best German IPA I've had.

Really dark orange, actually amber, with a creamy thick head that lingers for quite some time.
Grapefruit mostly on the nose, also clear mango. Caramel, some pineapple and tangerine, faint melon and lychee.
Bitter citrus start (really bitter) with tons of bitter orange peel and grapefruit, but a nice portion of tropical fruit too, with pulpy mango and some passion fruit too. Caramel enriches the sweet fruit, a light biscuity maltiness. Hops give off lots of leafiness, with a really sturdy bitterness that doesn't erase the previous flavors.
Medium body and carbonation, a bit sticky. Really fruity hoppy aftertaste.
Good stuff, strong bitter citrus, clear mango, ballsy bitterness. Great handling of Amarillo and Simcoe.

Released at Systembolaget in Sweden 2015-05-22. ABV: 7.1%

The beer pours slightly hazy, deep amber, dark orange with a one finger high head.

Nose: Orange, dried fruit, strawberries, apricot honey and vanilla. Fruity!
Taste: Apricot, mango, citus and caramel malt.
Body: Medium body and soft carbonation. Medium bitterness.

I really like this German IPA! It’s a grown up IPA with a attitude.
