22oz bottle. Cool label, almost looks like a version of a Big Daddy in Bioshock. Pours a dark brownish black color with a half inch of tan head that dissipates rapidly. Virtually no lacing. The nose is toasted malts, toasted coconut, nuts, dark chcolate, black coffee, leather and earth. The taste is much like the aroma. Lots of coconut, vanilla and chocolate. Nutty at times with a roasted malt and black coffee finish. Light body with very little carbonation, but creamy. Some alcohol warmth. Worth grabbing again.

Very nice. Dark, smooth, and slight delicious notes of chocolate.

From the can, it pours a light stopping brown color with a large light brown head that slowly reduces to a quarter inch layer. Lacing. In the nose, it is roasted malts with some chocolate. The taste follows the nose, ending with a burnt malt flavor, but the feel is smooth and creamy..

Poured from a pint can into a snifter glass. Two Fingered caramel colored head with good lacing. The body of the beer is coal black. A sweet aroma of malty chocolate and smoke arise. The first sip lives up to the name, a true choconaut experience, with a bit of hops bitterness on the tongue. Finishes with more chocolate taste.

On tap. My one knock is not quite picking up vanilla as strongly as I’d like.

On tap. An unfortunate pour perhaps... No head. Taste was too bitter, almost acrid. Notes of ash. Too smokey for my tastes. Probably wud pair well with certain foods or a cigar or something. But I felt like the taste that lingered on my palate was unpleasant. Would've liked less sharpness and less stinging coffee bitter. I guess I like a less adventurous and more "tender porter".

Cool 22oz bottle served in a tulip. A fairly vigorous poor results in barely a hint of foam which fades back quickly to a scant ring around the glass. Super-dark, no highlights to be seen when held up to the light. Smells rum-boozy, otherwise the aroma is faint but seductive, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla and earthy funk. Taste: From the nose, I was expecting boozy but it's not, not at all. Chocolate and molasses and vanilla caramel and a little orange zest which lingers on the palate. Dead-neutral between sweet and dry. Mouthfeel is awesome, smooth and creamy and... did I already say creamy? Slick and chewy. I can't give 'Feel' a five but I WOULD give it a 4.875 if I could. I don't know how old this bottle is; it came to me as 'consideration,' but I'd guess that it can't be near to freshly bottled. If this IS a fresh bottle, I can't even begin to imagine what it'll be like in a year! Out-frigging-standing.
