Pours a dark brown, with a small head. Lacing is good for the head that remains.

Smell is mostly caramel followed by malts.

The taste is bittersweet, with the bitter being dominant towards the end of the swallow, a hint of chocolate when it first hits your mouth.

Good feel in the mouth with mild carbonation that goes down smooth. Better than average but not great.

At a beer tasting at my place this was the fifth beer

A –Bright dark ruby red with almost no carbonation, the head is fine and vanishing fast, but a thin layer remains. A nice promising appearance.

S – Strong smell of wood and peat

T – The taste is cherries with peaches mixed with nuts. But a bit to light to my tasting.

M – Soft and pleasant

O – A good double, very tasty but a bit to light.

A tasty spicey brown beer, brought in from a Belgian transaction. Looks and taste abbeyish. The carbonation tingles and numbs the tongue while the chocolate dominates along with other spices, with hints of fig, caramel. A very tasty beer, sweet with sugar, some roast, toffee, and virtually no head and satisfying aftertaste.

Double belgian, from a small brewery.
Brown colour, decent head, decent lacing.

Smell is of some dark fruits, malts, mostly caramel.
Taste: bittersweetness. There are defenately some grassy hops in this. The caramel is not too dominant for me. However, the dark fruits are missed.
Alcohol is well masked. The drink goes down smoothly. The carbonation makes it pleasant and it's warming too.

All in all, a good double. Not significant, but decent choice.

Adelardus Trudoabdijbier Pours in fine but no overwelming head. Not much but at least it stays quiet good. Darkbrown with redshiny and totaly clear make it a good appearance altogether. Good till 02-06 so more then in time.
Smell is malty( roast & caramel there), candysugar with a yeastfruity accent. Taste is overwelmingly full malted, roasted and caramel again and maltsweet. Aftertaste is bitter and roasted. Good beer that's realy worth a try!

Nice deep red brownish colour. I think the head was a bit brown but it vanished so soon that I can't swear it. Aroma of sugar, caramel, port wine, chocolate, plums. Promising but... then, a very light body,watery mouth totally unexpected. Caramel, roasted notes, sugar. Extremely sweet flavor, with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Had on-tap at Moeder Lambic in Brussels.

Pours a bright, deep, amber-brown, with a fine bubbled but relatively mild head of beige. The lacing is patchy, but persistent. Rather lighter in body that I expected, or would ideally want, but otherwise ok.

Nose is slightly tart, with a vinous note giving a heady but slightly acidic edge. Some sweet organics, carob and a touch of turned earth. Quite nice all up.

Body is very light, but the flavours come through pleasantly, with a slightly peppery tartness, carob, butter, nuts, acidity along with the almost savoury characters of stewed tomatoes and tannic red wine. Lingering spice on the finish, that is itself quite dry.

Smooth and drinkable, but I'd say missing body in any other style but a Belgian

Black, one finger of a beige foam, decent appearance.
In the smell melon, pumpkin, cane sugar. Too sweet.
Same for the taste. Definitely too sweet.
In the end maybe a hint of woody, but useless.
For sure, not my kind of beer, too sweet and cloying.
Average body, a hint or sourness inthe aftertaste.
