First beer I've felt the need to review in a while. A gueuze for 10 bucks? Even if it is just "OK" that is a compelling argument. And it is "OK". It has a great head, smells nicely bretty with a bit of lactic astringency. The taste is classic blended gueuze with a surprising punch of malty sweetness and coriander. The young portion of the blend is really young and it shows. It suffered a little from my well-intentioned spouse keeping it very cool when I prefer to drink sours closer to room temp but as it warms up I warmed to it. It's a great price-effective gueuze. In terms of value for money, grab it now if it is available. Given the sweetness, I have to imagine aging it is a bad idea so enjoy the bounty of good cheap gueuze while you can. If you see it and like sour beers grab it ASAP.

Poured from 750 mL bottle into tulip.
A: Pours a clear light golden yellow hue with very active carbonation jets fueling a 2-3 inch white bubbly head with excellent retention.
S: Very fresh aroma with apple, pear, light farmhouse funk, soft tart lemon, and subtle honeyed melon.
T: Tart apple, fresh pear, delicate and slightly salty farmhouse funk, lemon acidity, soft honeyed melon, and subtle herbal mint.
M: Light body. Fresh and effervescent. Tart and acidic. Layers of delicate sweetness. Moderately astringent throughout with hop and herbal bitterness.
D: Really nice blended sour/blond ale. Elements of gueuze, lambic, and Belgian blonde ale come through in this fresh and refreshing brew.

Pours a light fizzy bubbly head small but fair retention, little lacing, slight hazy semi clear amber to reddish-orange color

Nose big lambic funk, barnyard funk with some tart acidic souring bacteria, perfumey funk, light tobacco and bubblegum, little grassy wet hay

Taste is funky and sour, fruity acidic tart funk, with mild souring bacteria, barnyard funk, little yeasty note, gritty base with some flemmish fruity sour, little watery and juicy so a bit watered down for a lambic, fair acidity overall, touch of grassy malt and hay, mild flemmy finish

Mouth is med to lighter bod a tad watery, med frothy carb, fair acidity and a touch flemmy

Overall it has some promise of a good lambic, but seems very watered down

A 750ml corked and caged bottle with a best before date of 7th April 2025. Despite all my carefulness, the cork still felt like exploding out, and it was only by some luck that I didn’t spill the bottle. Poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.

Appearance: A slightly hazy golden orange colour with a big three finger white head that had decent retention and eventually settled to a thin cap, while leaving some nice lacing.

Aroma: Tart, funky, oak, green apple, brett, light citrus zest and notes of pepper.

Taste: Light to moderate sour, brett, funk, citrus zest, green apple, and a soft caramel touch.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Enjoyable and easy drinking with some nice Lambic characteristics.

750ml caged and corked bottle. Cork reads 07 04 15.

Pours a clear pale gold, bringing heaps of foam, lots of sticky lacing.

Big tart notes in the smell, light Brett, acetic, yet something in there presents a sweet note or two.

Tart more than sour, light Brett, acetic presence minor, some sweetness. Lovely.

Mouthfeel is fine, finish is on the dry side.

I'm glad that I picked up this bottle. It's very pleasing.

Second pour and the foam got all wild and tried to overflow. Lots more bubble action as well. No deductions of points for that.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a clear and bright gold topped by a dense and rocky three finger head with excellent retention and lacing
S: Smells of light sourness, funk, and oak
T: Taste is bright tartness up front that doesn't quite reach sour with some funk and oak. A little fruity at times as well with some slight chalkyness. It also has some slight bready malt going on too. Swallow is more tartness with some lingering yeasty funk and a little more oak.
M: This beer is fairly light but not watery with nice carbonation that's just slightly prickly with a dry finish
O: Overall this is a pretty nice beer. It isn't super sour and has a nice pleasant tartness. Decent complexity and flavors as well keep this one interesting throughout the drink. Overall worth a try but not really worth seeking out if you like your sours on the strong side.
