Pounder can into a snifter. The brew appears pale yellow in color with a thin white head. The nose is pretty nice, it has a distinct seedy strawberry character that seems natural and enjoyable. The taste is dainty with strawberry at first then it fades away to grassy sulfur and some phenolic plastic character that is typically found with strawberries. Medium in body with modest carbonation. An interesting brew/concept but not something I need to have again.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy pinkish-orange color with a finger of light pink head. The head hangs around for a while before settling into a film. Leaves a few splotches of lace as it dissipates.

The aroma brings notes of sweet bread, corn, and strawberries.

The taste is very grainy, with notes of wheat bread and pound cake. The strawberry flavor is sweet and lightly tart, finished off by a subtle kiss of piney hops.

The feel is medium-light bodied with a ton of carbonation. Very crisp and exceptionally dry.

Overall, a pretty solid and tasty cream ale that comes exactly as advertised.

A: Pours a pinkish red color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a nice cap that leaves decent lacing

S: Strawberry and citrus up front along with some bready malt

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with waves of strawberry along with some citrus and bready malt. Finishes with lingering strawberries and some earthy undertones

M: Medium bodied with low-moderate carbonation. Seems a bit heftier than 5.5%

O: A solid cream ale that heavily focuses on the strawberries. Very easy to drink. Worth checking out

To the surprise of some, there were actually indigenous American beer that existed prior to the current craft beer movement. And those ales celebrated what grew best- corn. The compounds, sweetness and mashing techniques left behind a lot of creaminess and sweetness. Yet, those brewers never saw a strawberry version coming!

Burlington Brewing Company's Strawbery Whale Cake pours a milky, cloudy pale gold appearance with indeed a creamy, meringue-like froth. Sweet grains, cereal and cake batter tease the nose along side of a mild strawberry, apple, lemon and melon-like presence. Its taste is malty, grainy and starchy- giving the early palate a soft, pillowy albeit archaic sweetness.

The middle palate shows a reluctant fade of malt or grain as the taste of corn is clean but sweet.`Its strawberry flavor is genuine and natural, never seeming artificial or extract. Turning from the recognizable strawberry fruit and taking on a taste of cranberry, pomegranate or melon, the finish is fruity but looses its identifiable perfume. Angel-food cake and cream coat the grain and buffer against any harsh finish.

Medium-bodied, sweet and firmly malty, the trailing taste is faintly of strawberry milkshake and with the raw graininess of corn and light peppery hop balance keep bringing the beer back to ale-like status with glimmers of lager-like tendencies as well.

The beer comes in a hazy, light gold color.

The aroma offers wheat, a bit tart, strawberry malt, crackery malts.

The flavor follows with dehydrated strawberry, but the beer flows with wonderful chewy wheat and grainy malts, and breadiness, with a touch of bitterness.

Reviewed from long-lost notes discovered on my ailing Samsung tablet. There are a few on here I’ll get in, just for fun. 16 oz. can sent to me by some funny guy.

The pour is light yellow corn & the nose is barely perceptible barley & strawberries.

Strawberry Whale Cake was who we thought is was: cream ale with a kick. There’s a nice base cream ale that almost leans into hefe territory, back by a slightly tart strawberry note (no seeds though). Bubblegum, ice cream, free range grass. Creamy, but overcarbonated. Sixteen ounces is going to be too much.

All the individual tastes sound lovely, but it buries the weird-o-meter & everything just never comes together. Decent enough.

This is a cream ale for sure with very light strawberry presence. I mostly wanted to try this because the name screams novelty beer and that is exactly what this beer is...novelty beer. Baddass name for sure! A classic no doubt.

On tap at the brewery. Served in a taster. Hazy orange. Really nice strawberry aroma. I know how hard it is to get that authentic strawberry aroma. Light hefeweizen yeastiness behind it. Taste has almost the same quality of strawberry flavor, but a ton of bubble gum and wheat that doesn’t work well. Light body and very grainy. Light sweetness. Just not a fan of the strawberry bubble gum flavor.

This beer has a great strawberry flavor that seems fresh and is prominent without overwhelming the base. An extremely well made fruit beer.

Can. Pours a turbid, dull yellow. Aroma is of strawberries and some neutral malt. The entirety of the aroma is fairly soft. I do enjoy the strawberry element; it seems natural. Then there is a sort of wheaty maltiness. Flavor has again, a pleasant strawberry element. It doesn't taste artificial. There is some sweet, pale malt. I guess that's where the "cake" element comes from. A two trick pony. Light bodied. Actuall pretty fun to drink but I did share the can. They have cool artwork. Don't love the name though, makes me think of whale meat.

Poured into a nonic pint from the 16oz can dated 6/23/16, Strawberry Whale comes out a super cloudy goldenrod color with pink highlights. A foamy one finger head forms and dies down to a ring.

Smell is a bit muted, there's some sweetness and malts here but not much else. Flavor wise you get some sweet bread, grains, and a nice creamy dough note to it. There's a bit of a yeasty flavor but not too much, finishes with a mild strawberry juice note. Light to medium body. Overall flavor profile like strawberry short cake.

All in all I was a bit surprised by this one, it's a pretty cool summer beer and fairly unique. I imagine strawberry is a tough thing to brew with so kudos to Burlington Beer Co for this one.
