A wee bit different take on the rye IPA. All things are seemingly in order until we get to TASTE. Hops - beautiful...floral and citrusy. Dry and bitter? Check! Rye? Rye??? Well, I'm unclear exactly where the rye flavor is in this beer. I believe it's withheld in the bitter orange rind flavor I'm getting which has the tiniest bit of spice. Other than that, the supposed addition of rye is undetectable in this otherwise fine IPA. Drinkable? Yes. Buy again? Not when looking for that rye IPA fix.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy bronzed orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than about forty seconds. The smell started off with a spicy rye running into light citrus notes and leading into a sly caramel malt. The taste was semi-sweet and somewhat bitter, decently hoppy and slightly sweet through caramel and rye malts. A sly sweet to spicy rye to caramel aftertaste leads into a semi-crisp rye finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation runs evenly on the tongue and allows the rye to penetrate as it should for the bitterness level. Overall, good rye/IPA that I would have again.
